Bac Ninh: 28 additional 4-star-rated OCOP products

(VEN) - Bac Ninh province recently organized the second assessment and classification of OCOP products in 2024. Accordingly, 28 more OCOP products have been rated as 4-star. Thus, so far, the province has more than 100 OCOP 3-star- and 4-star-rated products.

After the 6-year implementation period, the OCOP program of Bac Ninh Province has evoked the potential and advantages of the province’s localities for specialty products and craft villages associated with advantages in production conditions, raw material areas, and traditional culture to increase product values.

According to Bac Ninh Province’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, since the implementation of the OCOP program (2018), the province has directed relevant departments and sectors to draft and issue support mechanisms to develop advantageous agricultural, non-agricultural, service and tourism products in localities.

Specifically, the province funded 30% of the cost to purchase machinery and equipment for production and processing of agricultural, forestry and fishery products, OCOP products and products in other rural sectors; funded 50% of the cost to purchase cold storage equipment, specialized equipment for supermarkets and convenience stores; and 100% of the cost of first-time purchase of stamps for traceability.

Organizations and individuals making products approved by competent authorities to participate in the OCOP Program will be funded with 50% of consulting costs; and other costs for launching electronic portals for online sales; making product designs, packaging; building brands, geographical indications of goods, and trademark protection.

Bac Ninh Province aims to have at least 200 OCOP products recognized by 2025, of which two or more products will be rated 5-star; build three pilot models of community tourism associated with the formation and development of OCOP product chains.

In addition, in order to develop a variety of tourism products to attract tourists, Bac Ninh will also carry out a project on building a provincial pilot OCOP tourism product for the 2023-2025 period. Accordingly, initially, the province will build pilot OCOP products associated with community tourism in Phu Lang Pottery Village (Que Vo Town), Dong Ho Folk Painting Village (Thuan Thanh Town) and Viem Xa Village (also known as Diem Village, Hoa Long Ward, Bac Ninh City), etc.
