Nghe An Southeast Economic Zone aims to attract 1 billion USD in FDI in 2025

The Southeast Economic Zone of Nghe An Province targets attracting around 1 billion USD in foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2025, heard at a conference held by the Nghe An Southeast Economic Zone Management Board in Vinh City on December 20.

In 2024, Nghe An Province remained among the top 10 provinces attracting the most FDI in Vietnam for the third consecutive year. The Southeast Economic Zone alone attracted 20 new projects with registered capital of over 19.87 trillion VND and saw capital increases for 20 existing projects totalling 21.89 trillion VND, exceeding targets by 208%. FDI projects accounted for over 1.64 billion USD in 2024, 235% of the year’s goal.

The economic zone now hosts 157 active businesses, generating over 77.21 trillion VND in revenue (a 30% year-on-year increase) and employing nearly 46,500 workers.

For 2025, Nghe An plans to approve 5-7 new industrial zone plans, establish 2-4 additional zones covering 900 hectares, and attract 20-25 projects worth 20-25 trillion VND, including 1 billion USD in FDI. The province aims to increase local tax contributions to 3-3.5 trillion VND and create 40,000 new jobs.

Vice Chairman of Nghe An People’s Committee, Bui Thanh An, emphasised the need to streamline operations, address challenges, and maintain the province’s strong investment appeal. Key priorities include ensuring timely project implementation and complying with environmental and safety standards.
