High-quality train service begins between HCM City and Đà Nẵng

HCM CITY — A luxury train service has been launched from HCM City to Đà Nẵng following the start of a recent similar service to the central city from Hà Nội.

The trains (SE22 and SE21) began running last Saturday, marking the ongoing Reunification Day holidays.

Departing from Saigon Railway Station in HCM City at 11am daily, the train arrives in Đà Nẵng at 6am the following day. The return trip starts at Đà Nẵng Railway Station at 8:15am and reaches HCM City at 4am the next day.

Hoàng Gia Khánh, Vietnam Railways’ general director, said the extensive upgrades and renovations made to the trains would enhance the passenger experience.

The trains feature a fresh exterior paint scheme in white, gray and blue, and interiors have been redesigned to provide more spacious and comfortable accommodation.

There are amenities such as Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, reading lights, charging ports, new mattresses, blankets, sheets, pillows, and curtains.

There is also a carriage with rotating seats.

A private two-bed cabin is available for those seeking added privacy, and restroom facilities have been upgraded to improve the passenger experience.

Ticket prices on weekdays and weekends/holidays cost VNĐ544,000-1.9 million and VNĐ900,000-VNĐ2.9 million.

A similar service between Hà Nội and Đà Nẵng was launched last October.

Passengers on the train also have a designated VIP boarding room at Hà Nội, Sài Gòn and Đà Nẵng stations.

While air travel may offer speed, train journeys through Việt Nam provide unforgettable experiences and views of mountains, rice paddies and coastlines.

The 120-km route from Đà Nẵng to Huế, passing through the iconic Hải Vân Pass, is just one of the many breathtaking journeys available by rail.

The railways have been struggling to improve facilities and services amid criticism of poor facilities, long travel times and high prices compared to air travel.

As travellers seek new ways to see the country’s landscapes, the scenic views offered by trains continue to be a popular choice.
