Many export items to US market exceed US$10 billion

The three export items with turnover exceeding US$10 billion were computers, electronic products and components at US$17.3 billion, up 46 percent year on year (YoY); machinery, equipment, tools, other spare parts at US$15.4 billion, (up 23.7 percent) and textiles US$12 billion (up 9.1 percent YoY). The total turnover of these three items reached US$44.8 billion, accounting for 50.8 percent of Vietnam's total export revenue to the US market.

The export turnover of computers, electronic products and components to the US in nine months of 2024 reached US$17.3 billion

Among the export items having turnover of over US$1 billion, phones and components reached US$8.02 billion, up 28.8 percent YoY. Footwear exports US$6.16 billion, up 17.7 percent; wood and wood products at US$6.48 billion, up 25.8 percent YoY.

Meanwhile, the export turnover of means of transport and spare parts reached US$2.4 billion, up 15.7 percent; toys, sports equipment and parts at US$1.3 billion, up 0.8 percent.

Vietnam also earned US$1.16 billion from iron and steel exports to the US, an year on year increase of 86 percent. The export volumes of iron and steel increased from 790,990 tonnes to 1.43 million tonnes during this period.

Plastic products exported to the US also reached US$2.14 billion, up 43.7 percent; handbags, wallets, suitcases, hats and umbrellas reached US$1.3 billion, up 15.7 percent YoY.

In the field of agriculture and fishery sectors, the total export turnover of Vietnam’s agricultural and aquatic products to the US reached US$3.02 billion, up 25.3 percent over the same period last year. Among them, Vietnam earned US$1.33 billion from exporting aquatic products to the US, up 14.1 percent. In the group of agricultural products, pepper recorded the highest growth rate of 96.2 percent to reach US$299.3 million, followed by tea at 61.5 percnet, equivalent to US$8.4 million; vegetables and fruits at 34.6 percent reaching US$254 million; cashew nuts 32.7 percent reaching US$871 million. Coffee exports to the US also increased by seven percent YoY to reach US$234 million.

In contrast, rice export turnover to the US in the nine-month period down 3.4 percent over the same period to US$19.5 million.

Regarding the increase of average export prices of the above agricultural products, coffee had the highest average price increase at 53.5 percent, to reach US$3,649 per tonne; pepper up by 28.5 percent to US$5,147 per tonne; rice also up by 14.3 percent to US$877.6 per tonne. Meanwhile, the average export price of Vietnamese tea to the US also increased by 12.4 percent to US$1,462 per tonne; and that of cashew nuts also up by 2.1 percent year on year to reach US$5,792 per tonne.
