Vietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership

In the first quarter of 2025, Vietnam’s economy showed signs of recovery, with several key indicators recording strong growth despite ongoing global uncertainties.

On April 4, global gold prices fluctuated significantly, trading at 3,085 USD per ounce after US President Donald Trump announced new retaliatory tariffs on goods from different countries. In the domestic market, SJC gold bars and rings both saw a decline, trading at 101.3 million VND and 101.2 million VND per tael respectively.

With nearly one million enterprises and approximately five million individual business households, the private economic sector plays a crucial role in Vietnam's economy. It currently contributes 51% of GDP, generates over 30% of state budget revenue, and provides employment for more than 40 million people, accounting for 82% of the total workforce.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has signed Decision No. 444, dated February 27, 2025, setting targets for the completion of social housing by 2025 and the following years up to 2030. These targets will be incorporated into local socio-economic development plans.

Vietnam's overseas investment in the first two months of 2025 totalled nearly 239 million USD, 9.5 times higher than the same period last year.

Vietnam grants visa exemptions to citizens of 16 countries from March 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025, as part of the country's tourism development stimulus programme.

Within the framework of the official visit to Vietnam and attendance at the 2nd ASEAN Future Forum by New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon (February 25-28, 2025), the two countries have signed a Joint Statement on upgrading Vietnam - New Zealand relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
