At the grand parade marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2 (Mission A80), a wide range of advanced military equipment developed by Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel) will be proudly showcased for the first time at the Ba Dinh Square, Hanoi.
Participating in the event, Viettel contributes two missile systems, two types of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), as well as radar complexes, electronic warfare vehicles, and communication devices. All of these systems are independently researched, designed, and manufactured by Viettel, approved for use, and officially commissioned into the Army. This milestone demonstrates Viettel’s transformation into a leading developer and producer of high-tech defense industrial systems, mastering core technologies, particularly in the research and development of strategic weaponry.

Among the Naval forces’ formations, the first equipment presented by Viettel is the Truong Son missile system, fully developed in-house from research and design to production. The system consists of a command vehicle, a radar vehicle, a launcher vehicle, a transport-loader vehicle, and Song Hong anti-ship missiles. Its mission is to surveil the maritime domain, process intelligence, select targets, and conduct missile strikes under modern combat conditions. The Truong Son system is capable of both concentrated and independent combat, features a high level of automation, rapid combat readiness deployment, and is tailored to Vietnam’s terrain and climate conditions.

This system serves as a core component of the coastal defense network, with formidable power to neutralize hostile targets and safeguard maritime sovereignty. The symbolic naming of the system after the Truong Son mountain range and the missile after the Red River signifies the unity of “mountains and rivers,” underscoring Vietnam’s firm resolve to defend its sovereignty, territory, and maritime domains.
Following this is the S-125-VT air defense missile system, researched, upgraded, and modernized by Viettel. It boasts superior mobility, extended target engagement range, and enhanced combat efficiency. The system’s 5V27/5V27-VT/TLĐK-35 solid-fuel missiles are highly effective against supersonic fighter aircraft, transport aircraft, bombers, UAVs, cruise missiles, as well as ground and naval targets. During training and drills, the S-125-VT has consistently delivered excellent performance, meeting the demands of modern warfare.

Next in line is Viettel’s radar system, comprising models already deployed across various military services, playing a vital role in airspace and maritime surveillance.
Viettel’s UAV systems also appear in the parade, including reconnaissance drones with high-precision target detection and identification capabilities, vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) features, integrated radar, and electro-optical sensors. These UAVs are used for search and rescue, border protection, anti-smuggling, day-and-night patrols, and geospatial data mapping. The tactical combat UAV variant is capable of effectively striking ground targets, integrating artificial intelligence for real-time autonomous target detection, recognition, tracking, and engagement.
The electronic warfare vehicle unit, co-developed by the Department of Electronic Warfare under the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Viettel, is also introduced, tasked with jamming radio frequencies to protect and secure critical locations and military operations.

Additionally, personal radio transceivers developed and produced by Viettel are equipped for soldiers in various parade formations, including the Airborne Special Forces, Cyber Warfare units, Armored Corps, Artillery, Special Operations, and Combat Engineers.
Looking ahead, Viettel reaffirms its commitment to remaining the key force in researching and manufacturing modern advanced weapon systems for the military, meeting operational requirements in the new context, particularly focusing on high-tech and strategic weaponry.
