(VEN) - Hung Yen Province is maintaining its traditions and further developing education and training to create an improved workforce.

Improving teaching and learning

Going back many years, four of Vietnam’s first 53 doctoral candidates came from Hung Yen Province. The names of hundreds of provincial doctoral degree holders during the feudal period were carved on stone steles at Hung Yen’s Confucius Temple, established in 1831.

Nguyen Van Phe, Director of the Hung Yen Province Department of Education and Training, said the province’s budget expenditure for education and training has increased, with investments diversified to modernize and standardize teaching and learning activities.

All junior and upper secondary schools in the province are equipped with projectors and multi-function screens, use teaching, lecture design (e-learning) and quality control software programs to improve education quality.

Hung Yen is interested in developing teachers and education managers. The Hung Yen Province Department of Education and Training has urged schools to apply the OECD\'s Program for International Student Assessment (PISA), encourage scientific and technical research for high school students, guide students to apply interdisciplinary knowledge to solve practical problems, and guide teachers to teach on integrated topics. Education and training facilities are located throughout the province to meet growing demand.

Foreign language instruction

Hung Yen Province is speeding up the construction of national standard kindergartens and secondary schools, including development of classrooms and high-quality teachers.

The province is also promoting post-secondary vocational and tertiary education, including vocational training for agricultural and rural workers, while increasing investment to modernize schools and teaching and learning equipment.

Foreign languages instruction is being boosted in the province to efficiently implement the 10-year foreign language education and expanded foreign language education programs for students of different grades.

Hung Yen encourages domestic and foreign organizations and individuals to invest in education and training, and further strengthen international cooperation in education with Incheon Province in the Republic of Korea.

Box: Hung Yen Province’s 2025 targets include reaching education and training quality that meet industrialization and modernization demand, students winning national and international prizes, a sufficient number of high-quality teachers, and improvements in the quality of education and training.
