On May 25, at the Parliament House in Kuala Lumpur, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives (Dewan Rakyat) Dato' Johari Bin Abdul as part of his official visit to Malaysia to attend the 46th ASEAN Summit and related high-level meetings.

Speaker Dato' Johari Bin Abdul warmly welcomed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s visit, noting that the visit would generate fresh momentum to advance bilateral relations.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated Malaysia on its significant achievements, including rapid economic growth and its rise to become one of the world’s top 27 most competitive economies. He expressed confidence that, with the contribution of the Malaysian Parliament, the country would successfully realise the comprehensive development goals set out in its MADANI Economic Framework.
The Prime Minister underscored the potential for cooperation in green economy, circular economy, digital transformation, and data connectivity—particularly within the framework of the ASEAN Power Grid initiative.
Speaker Dato' Johari Bin Abdul called for enhanced cooperation to ensure food security, proposing that Vietnam assist Malaysia in developing its agricultural sector to reduce reliance on external sources. He also highlighted culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges as areas of shared strength, with many natural landscapes in both countries likened to "heaven on earth."
Regarding parliamentary cooperation, the Speaker affirmed his commitment to promoting the signing of a cooperation agreement between the two legislatures, enhancing delegation exchanges at various levels, and fostering ties among young and female parliamentarians. He also emphasized the importance of sharing legislative experience and advancing cooperation under the new strategic partnership framework.
Both sides agreed to boost high-level exchanges and strengthen cooperation across key areas such as politics, national defence, and security, contributing to peace and development in the region.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to close coordination at regional and international parliamentary forums. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed Vietnam’s appreciation for Malaysia’s role as Chair of ASEAN in 2025 and Chair of the 46th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), affirming Vietnam’s support for Malaysia’s proposed priorities during its chairmanship year.
Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien joined the Prime Minister’s official visit to Malaysia and the 46th ASEAN Summit and related meetings in Kuala Lumpur. Accompanying the Minister were leaders of key departments and units, including the Multilateral Trade Policy Department, Foreign Market Development Department, Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Industry and Trade Newspaper, and the Ministry's Office. During the visit, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien and his delegation are expected to hold sideline meetings with partners to exchange views and discuss ways to enhance economic, trade, and industrial cooperation between Vietnam and Malaysia. |
