The relationship between Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been progressing well, delivering many tangible results. The UAE is the first country in the Middle East-Africa region with which Vietnam has initiated discussions to elevate bilateral ties to a new level. Economically, the UAE is Vietnam's largest export market in this region.

Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man will lead a high-ranking NA delegation to pay an official visit to Laos and attend the 45th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-45) from October 17-19. This is the legislative leader's first official visit to Laos in his new position, taking place just ahead of the AIPA-45 General Assembly, with Laos as the host nation. The visit aims to strengthen the special solidarity and expand parliamentary cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

The GDP in the first 9 months of 2024 expanded by 6.82% compared to the same period in 2023. The GDP, based on 2010 constant prices, reached 4,472.22 trillion VND (around 180 billion USD).

In the first nine months of 2024, Vietnam's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 6.82% year-on-year, with a GDP growth rate of 7.4% in the third quarter. The socio-economic situation in the third quarter and the first nine months of the year continues to show positive trends, with various sectors gaining significant achievements, laying a foundation for further growth in the remainder of the year.

Once a war-torn city, Hanoi has transformed into a hub of dynamic growth and development. The capital's economy consistently achieves strong growth rates, contributing 16% to the national GDP and 19% to the overall state budget.

Vietnam and China are neighboring countries with many similarities in culture, political systems, and development paths. Recently, with the joint efforts of both sides, the relationship between the two parties and the two countries has maintained a very positive momentum of development, achieving significant accomplishments in all areas.

Economic, trade, and investment cooperation has steadily progressed, emerging as key aspects of the Vietnam-China relationship in recent times.

As of September 30, the total registered capital from new licenses, adjustments, and capital contributions for share purchases by foreign investors reached over 24.78 billion USD, up 11.6% compared to the same period in 2023.

On the occasion of the official visit to France by Party General Secretary and President To Lam on October 7, 2024, Vietnam and France issued a joint statement on upgrading their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. As of October 2024, Vietnam has Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with eight countries.

The armed forces and people of Hanoi take great pride in two historic battles: the 60-day and night resistance alongside the entire nation (December 19, 1946 - February 17, 1947), and the 12-day and night of Hanoi - Dien Bien Phu in the air (December 18 - 29, 1972).

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024), numerous activities and programs such as exhibitions, art performances, and experiential tourism will be organized at historical sites in the Old Quarter of Hanoi in the coming days.

Vietnam's cooperation with the Francophone community has continued to develop positively. This is the first State visit to Mongolia by a Vietnamese President in 16 years, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The visit reaffirms Vietnam's consistent policy of valuing its friendship with traditional partners, including Mongolia, and its desire to deepen and enhance relations with Mongolia in a substantive, effective, and meaningful way in line with the current context.

To meet the travel demand of the public during the Lunar New Year 2025, Vietnamese airlines have simultaneously launched the sale of holiday tickets. Accordingly, Vietnam Airlines Group has offered nearly 1.5 million seats, while Vietjet has made 2.6 million seats available.

The traditional solidarity and special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba is a valuable legacy, highly cherished by the Party, State, and people of both countries. This relationship continues to flourish across all channels. Cuba's top leadership has affirmed that Vietnam is a “strategic ally” and “the most trusted international partner.” The relationship between the two parties has deepened, serving as the political foundation and guiding the development of cooperative ties between the two nations.

Vietnam’s total trade turnover reached 511.11 billion USD in the first eight months of 2024, marking a 16.7% increase compared to the same period last year.

Typhoon Yagi has caused severe destruction across northern Vietnam, leading to heavy rain, flash floods, and widespread flooding in the northern mountainous regions. In response to the extensive damage and loss of life, emergency relief efforts and community support initiatives have been mobilised nationwide to aid affected residents and help them recover from the disaster.

Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embaló and his spouse are currently on an official visit to Vietnam from September 5-9.

On August 19, 2024, Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and China’s General Administration of Customs signed a protocol on phytosanitary requirements for Vietnamese fresh coconuts exported to China, opening the door for the product to enter the 1.4 billion-strong market.

On August 19, 2024, Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and China’s General Administration of Customs signed a Protocol on Inspection, Plant Quarantine, and Food Safety for Frozen Durian Exports from Vietnam to China.

Established in 1973 and elevated to a Strategic Partnership in 2018, the relationship between Vietnam and Australia has experienced significant and comprehensive growth across all areas. During Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to Australia from March 7-9, the two nations further upgraded their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
