On September 3, 2025, during the 80th anniversary commemoration of the world’s victory over fascism in Beijing, China, President Luong Cuong held meetings with leaders from Cambodia, Cuba, North Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Timor Leste, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, the Republic of Congo, and Zimbabwe.

The Vietnamese leader conveyed greetings from General Secretary To Lam and other Party and State leaders, expressing gratitude for the support of friendly nations. He affirmed Vietnam’s commitment to continued collaboration for peace, stability, and prosperity. 

The meetings included Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihamoni, Cuba’s First Secretary and President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, North Korea’s General Secretary and President Kim Jong Un, Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto, Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Timor Leste’s National Assembly President Maria Fernanda Lay, and presidents from Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, the Republic of Congo, and Zimbabwe.

Foreign leaders congratulated Vietnam on its 80th National Day, emphasizing their valued ties with Vietnam and their desire to deepen cooperation across various sectors. 

King Norodom Sihamoni recalled his November 2024 visit to Vietnam, expressing gratitude for the warm hospitality and advocating for stronger Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia solidarity.

Cuba’s President Diaz-Canel, fresh from attending Vietnam’s National Day, thanked Vietnam for its support and sought to advance the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation.

North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, reflecting on his 2019 visit, stressed continued high-level exchanges to bolster political trust.

Indonesia’s President Subianto committed to implementing the newly established Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, while Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, as 2025 ASEAN Chair, agreed to enhance Vietnam-Malaysia ties and ASEAN unity. 

Timor Leste’s Maria Fernanda Lay expressed aspirations for ASEAN membership, and other leaders from Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Congo, and Zimbabwe emphasized expanding trade, investment, energy, defense, culture, and multilateral cooperation, including at the UN and Non-Aligned Movement.

The warm and friendly meetings underscored the deepening ties between Vietnam and its global partners, particularly traditional friends across Central Asia, Europe, and Africa, reflecting a shared commitment to meaningful collaboration.
