Information and communications sector’s revenue exceeds VND3.9 trillion in 11 months

In the first 11 months of 2024, the Ministry of Information and Communications paid an estimated VND116.148 billion in taxes to the state budget

With this result, the sector has completed 95.6 percent of the revenue target for this year (VND4,166,339 billion). The sector’s profit reached an estimated VND291.219 billion, a 17.5 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023, equivalent to 100.2 percent of the annual target (VND290.745 billion).

In the first 11 months of 2024, the Ministry of Information and Communications paid an estimated VND116.148 billion in taxes to the state budget, a year-on-year increase of 27.2 percent, equivalent to 119 percent of the annual target (VND97.102 billion). At the same time, it contributed VND924.839 billion to Vietnam’s GDP, a year-on-year increase of 18 percent, fulfilling 94.2 percent of the annual target (VND981.852 billion).

Information and communications is a multi-field sector, encompassing infrastructure, technology, economy, and politics, all of which are related to digital technology. This includes digital infrastructure; digital technology, digital industries; state management of journalism and broadcasting, electronic information, grassroots information, publishing, printing, and distribution.

Information and communications is also a sector with strategic technologies, such as the Internet of Things, big data, cloud computing, quantum computing, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and cybersecurity. These are new strategic technologies in the digital field that are developing rapidly, creating the fundamental productive forces, contributing to the creation of new living spaces, and digital spaces. They generate new resources in the form of digital data and create the foundation for digital infrastructure, digital technologies, and digital industries to drive the digital transformation of traditional industries, which are crucial to the development of the country in the digital age.
