The event takes place as Vietnam is accelerating the implementation of its commitments on energy transition, green growth and greenhouse gas emissions reduction. For Hanoi, ENTECH HANOI is not only an annual trade promotion event but also an important forum for connecting businesses, fostering investment cooperation, facilitating technology transfer and seeking advanced energy solutions for sustainable development.

At the opening ceremony, Nguyen Xuan Luu, member of the Standing Board of the Hanoi Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, said that in implementing the Party and State's policies on ensuring national energy security through 2030 with a vision to 2045, Hanoi has issued various plans to translate objectives, tasks and solutions into actions suited to the capital city's conditions.

Accordingly, Hanoi has identified green transition, energy transition and the development of a low-carbon economy as both an inevitable requirement and an important driver for improving growth quality and enhancing economic competitiveness.

Over the years, Hanoi has maintained its role as the economic locomotive of the Red River Delta while also serving as a leading locality in implementing programmes on energy conservation and efficiency. During the 2021-2025 period, the city achieved total energy savings of 705.7 kTOE, equivalent to 8.26% of projected demand. At the same time, installed rooftop solar power capacity reached 118 MWp.

Notably, the stable operation of the Soc Son and Seraphin waste-to-energy plants, with a combined capacity of 127 MW, has made an important contribution to diversifying energy sources, treating waste and reducing pressure on the urban environment.

Building on these achievements, Hanoi has set a number of ambitious targets for 2026. The city aims to reduce energy consumption by 1.6 - 1.8% compared with projected demand, save at least 3% of total annual electricity consumption and cut electricity use by at least 10% during peak summer months.

In addition, Hanoi will continue encouraging the development of self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power systems while promoting the application of advanced technologies in energy management and use. One notable initiative is the development of energy storage systems. The city aims to increase total storage capacity to 250 MW in 2026 and achieve annual growth of around 20% in subsequent years. This is considered a necessary step as the share of renewable energy continues to increase. Energy storage systems not only improve the reliability of the power system but also enable more efficient utilisation of solar power and other clean energy sources.

The city also aims for around 10% of public agencies and 10% of households to install self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power systems each year. At the same time, Hanoi is piloting low-emission zones to control pollution and move toward a greener urban model.

ENTECH HANOI - a technology bridge for energy transition

Organised annually since 2009, ENTECH HANOI has become one of the country's largest events in the fields of energy and environment. After 17 years, the exhibition has evolved beyond a platform for showcasing products and technologies to become an effective channel connecting state management agencies, businesses, research organisations and international partners.

According to the organisers, ENTECH HANOI 2026 features more than 250 booths from over 200 domestic and international enterprises and runs from June 24 to 26 at the I.C.E International Exhibition Center in Hanoi.

Under the theme “Innovation - Green Transition,” this year's exhibition focuses on introducing advanced technological solutions in the energy and environmental sectors. Highlights include applications of digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) in energy management and use, as well as new energy technologies, renewable energy, green transportation and energy storage systems.

Beyond exhibition activities, ENTECH HANOI also serves as a forum for sharing knowledge, experience and emerging trends in the energy sector. As part of this year's programme, the Vietnam Energy Transition Forum 2026 will be held with the participation of policymakers, experts, scientists and business representatives from Vietnam and abroad.

At the forum, delegates will discuss global energy transition trends, Vietnam's energy development policies, and opportunities and challenges facing Hanoi in its pursuit of green growth and sustainable development. They will also share international models and experiences that may be adapted to the capital city's practical conditions.

The effectiveness of ENTECH HANOI has been demonstrated through previous editions. In 2025 alone, the exhibition attracted more than 6,100 visitors, while business-matching activities facilitated 502 meetings between enterprises, generating trade and technology transfer negotiations worth a total of USD 23.3 million. Five memoranda of understanding were also signed during the event.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, ENTECH HANOI is currently the country's largest exhibition in the fields of energy and environment, making an important contribution to promoting the National Programme on Energy Efficiency and Conservation.

As energy demand continues to rise alongside increasingly stringent requirements for environmental protection and emissions reduction, promoting technological innovation, developing clean energy and improving energy efficiency are regarded as key factors in ensuring sustainable growth.

With the participation of hundreds of enterprises, research organisations and international partners, ENTECH HANOI 2026 is expected to create new opportunities for cooperation, accelerate the transfer of advanced technologies and contribute to achieving Hanoi's goals for energy transition, green growth and energy security in the years ahead.
