
Vietnam reaps price gains as India ramps up pepper imports

Over the past eight months of the year, coal exports reached 385,382 tonnes, worth US$96.42 million, rising by 22.4% in volume but a reduction of 12.7% in value from last year’s corresponding period.
During January - August, the average export price reached US$250.2 per tonne, down 28.7% year on year.
Japan continued to be the largest importer of Vietnamese coal throughout eight months, with a volume of 119,817 tonnes valued at US$29.93 million, down by 3.6% and 29%, respectively. Japanese imports accounted for 31% in volume and turnover of Vietnam’s total coal exports.
The second largest market was the Philippines, reaching 69,720 tonnes worth US$15.1 million, a sudden increase of 31.7% in volume and 16.5% in value year on year.
The Netherlands, South Africa, Indonesia, and the Republic of Korea were also among the major import markets for Vietnamese coal throughout the reviewed period.
