Both sides welcomed the strong and substantive progress in Vietnam - US relations, thirty years after the establishment of diplomatic ties, ten years since the launch of the Comprehensive Partnership, and more than two years since the elevation to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Economic, trade, and investment cooperation remains a key pillar and driving force of bilateral relations. In 2024, two-way trade reached nearly USD 150 billion, making the US Vietnam’s second-largest trading partner and one of its most important export markets, while ranking 11th among 142 countries and territories investing in Vietnam.
Deputy Minister Nguyễn reaffirmed that Vietnam regards the US as a top strategic partner and emphasized the country’s commitment to advancing the Reciprocal Trade Agreement in a fair, balanced, and mutually beneficial manner. He said the effort would help deepen mutual understanding, strengthen strategic trust, and promote stability and sustainable development in bilateral relations.
