Vietnam aims to boost exports of strategic products to Jordan

State President Luong Cuong emphasized that Vietnam is prepared to expand exports of its key products to Jordan.

On November 12, following a formal welcome ceremony at the Presidential Palace, State President Luong Cuong held talks with King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein of Jordan.

During the discussions, on behalf of the State and people of Vietnam, President Luong Cuong warmly welcomed King Abdullah II to Vietnam, highlighting the historical significance of the visit as the first high-level exchange between the two countries since diplomatic relations were established 45 years ago (1980 - 2025). He expressed hope that the visit would open a new chapter in bilateral relations.

King Abdullah II expressed his pleasure at visiting Vietnam for the first time and congratulated the country on its development achievements. He also shared his condolences for the significant losses and damages caused by recent natural disasters in Vietnam.

Building on strong political trust, the two leaders agreed to promote cooperation in key areas, including defense and security, information sharing, and exchanges of experts and personnel between relevant institutions to enhance mutual understanding and share experience in fields of common interest.

In the economic sphere, both sides committed to facilitating market access for each other’s key products and encouraged businesses to explore opportunities for cooperation and investment, particularly in infrastructure development, green economy, digital economy, telecommunications, manufacturing, and agricultural processing. They also stressed the importance of strengthening connections between the startup and innovation ecosystems of both countries.

King Abdullah II proposed studying the possibility of establishing direct flights and streamlining visa procedures for citizens of both countries.

Highlighting Vietnam’s strengths in agriculture, President Luong Cuong reaffirmed Vietnam’s readiness to boost exports of key products to Jordan. Meanwhile, King Abdullah II expressed his willingness to support Vietnam in developing the Halal sector by sharing knowledge and experience, guiding Halal certification, and opening the Jordanian market to Vietnamese Halal products.

The leaders also discussed enhancing cooperation in healthcare, a sector where Jordan has particular strengths focusing on telemedicine and the application of technology in medical services.

In education and training, both sides agreed to expand student and academic exchanges, particularly in emerging fields such as science, technology, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors, recognizing the potential to create new opportunities for the younger generations of both countries.

Regarding cooperation in multilateral forums, both sides agreed to continue consultations and support each other’s candidacies, while serving as a bridge to promote cooperation between the Arab League and ASEAN. They also exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual concern, including the East Sea.
