According to preliminary statistics from the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism and localities, the country welcomed an estimated 12.5 million domestic visitors during the Lunar New Year 2025, a 19% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Tourists tend to choose famous heritage, spiritual and cultural destinations in localities, such as Da Lat, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau, Hanoi, etc.
The number of international visitors to Vietnam during the Lunar New Year 2025 also recorded positive signals from localities. The number of international visitors to Vietnam continued to increase thanks to the effect of favorable visa policy and the right direction in restructuring the tourist market.

In addition, tourism revenue of many localities also saw significant growth with 8 localities surpassing the tourism revenue of 1 trillion VND during the Lunar New Year 2025.
Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City leads the country with the estimated revenue of 7.69 trillion VND, up 17.4% year on year; welcomed an estimated 2.1 million visitors, up 16.7%.
Hanoi ranks second with the total tourism revenue estimated at 3.53 trillion VND, up 7.85% year on year; and received an estimated 1 million visitors, up 6%.
Quang Ninh ranks third, with 969,000 visitors; up 21% year on year; and the total revenue from tourists was estimated at VND2.665 trillion, up 71%.
The 4th place belongs to Da Nang with the tourism revenue reaching VND1.887 trillion, up more than 19% year on year. Domestic flights increased by 70% and international flights by 45%.
The next position is Kien Giang with its tourism revenue reaching VND1.886 trillion, up nearly 50% over the same period in 2024, of which Phu Quoc contributed nearly 70% in term of the number of visitors and revenue. As Tet approached, the island welcomed an average of 38-40 international arrival and departure flights.
Khanh Hoa welcomed 940,500 visitors (from January 27 to February 1), with the total revenue reaching VND1.356 trillion, up 41% year on year. In Lao Cai, the tourism sector reaped VND1.342 trillion, of which the total revenue from international visitors reached about VND126 billion; and that from domestic visitors was about VND1.215 trillion, up 49% over the same period in 2024.
In addition, Ninh Binh Province also demonstrated its attractiveness to tourists during the Lunar New Year 2025 with revenue reaching about VND1 trillion, up 20% year on year.
Tourist attraction in other localities also recorded positive development, such as Ba Ria - Vung Tau with the revenue reaching VND747 billion, up 34%; Thanh Hoa at VND 570 billion, up 12.6%...
There were many attractive tourism products during the Lunar New Year At Ty 2025 to attract domestic and foreign tourists.
Major travel agencies, such as Hanoitourist, Saigontourist, Vietravel, etc., have developed many new domestic and international tours with attractive promotional programs, focusing on highlighting regional advantages, linking development in the direction of “One route, many destinations,” diversifying services to increase revenue during Tet holidays.
In addition, accommodation establishments have proactively prepared facilities and human resources to serve tourists during Tet. Airlines have increased flights to serve the travel needs of tourists and residents during Tet At Ty 2025.
The 9-day Lunar New Year 2025 holiday with favorable weather conditions, along with policies, promotional efforts and careful preparations by localities and businesses contributed to creating a bumper tourist season. This is a positive signal for Vietnam’s tourism industry in the new year, promising a stronger recovery and further development.
