Increased demand for travel
The nine-day Tet holiday is an opportunity for the Vietnamese people to plan spring trips, explore various regions across the country, and travel abroad. According to reports from travel companies, the demand for travel during the Lunar New Year 2025 is on the rise, especially in major cities like Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, with an increase of about 25 percent compared to Tet 2024. The highest demand is concentrated in the family group segment, particularly those spanning 2-3 generations.
The Lunar New Year is also a time when Vietnam expects to welcome a significant number of international tourists. Data from the online travel platform Agoda show that Vietnam continues to affirm strong appeal to international visitors during the Lunar New Year 2025. Searches for accommodations by international tourists have increased by 139 percent compared to the same period last year, with the number of visitors from China rising nearly 300 percent.
Aside from China, data from the platform also recorded significant growth in accommodation searches from tourists in other countries and territories, such as the Republic of Korea and Chinese Taipei, with increases of 94 percent and 123 percent, respectively. The results are based on booking search data collected from November 27 to December 21, 2024, for check-in dates from January 25 to February 2, 2025. Regarding destinations, Phu Quoc is emerging as the top choice for international tourists in 2025, with accommodation searches soaring by 266 percent compared to 2024.

Localities ready to welcome visitors
In order to attract and prepare for the arrival of tourists to the capital, the Hanoi Department of Tourism has directed units, businesses, organizations, and individuals involved in tourism within the city to review and improve the quality of tourism products and services, as well as strengthen security measures to ensure safety for visitors.
During this Lunar New Year, Hanoi will also host many vibrant and attractive events to draw visitors for sightseeing and experiences. With the spirit of preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, turning culture into a resource and driving force for economic development, especially in the tourism sector, the city will organize a series of activities and events that will take place before and during the Tet holiday.
As a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists, the Da Nang Department of Tourism announced that the city is expected to welcome over 456,000 visitors for the Lunar New Year 2025, an increase of 13.5 percent compared to last year's holiday. Among them, international visitors are projected to reach over 221,000. Da Nang’s tourism industry has prepared new products and accommodations to serve tourists during the Tet holiday.
As for Hue City, the local Department of Tourism anticipates that during the nine-day Lunar New Year holiday, the total number of visitors to Hue will reach approximately 130,000, marking an increase of over 18 percent compared to the same period last year. The city’s tourism sector, local authorities, relevant units, tourist sites, and businesses have implemented various measures and organized numerous activities to attract and leave a positive impression on visitors during the Tet holiday.
With the cool coastal weather during early spring, Vung Tau City is also expected to become a "hotspot" for attracting tourists during the Lunar New Year 2025. Therefore, local authorities have made thorough preparations to welcome and serve a large number of visitors during the Tet holiday. This year, the diverse series of festive events, designed to cater to people of all ages and interests, is considered a highlight of the Lunar New Year 2025 in Vung Tau.
It is forecast that during this year’s Tet holiday, Khanh Hoa Province will welcome a significant number of tourists, with the peak period for domestic visitors expected from the second to the fifth day of the Lunar New Year. According to information from tourism businesses, the peak days for tourist arrivals in Khanh Hoa will be from the second to the fourth day of Tet, with hotel occupancy rates exceeding 80 percent at several hotels in downtown Nha Trang. Meanwhile, five-star resorts in the Bai Dai area are reporting occupancy rates of over 90 percent.
Khanh Hoa Province’s tourism sector has made thorough preparations to serve visitors during this year’s Tet holiday. The Provincial Department of Tourism has issued official directives requiring accommodation providers to strictly comply with regulations on registration, price listing, and offering services at listed prices. They are also urged to maintain service quality, ensure security and safety for tourists, prioritize fire prevention and control measures, and guarantee food safety and hygiene standards./.
