Acting Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung chaired a meeting with energy groups and local representatives on the afternoon of January 29 to implement solutions for ensuring electricity supply in 2026, with orientations for the 2027-2030 period, and to accelerate the progress of key power source and grid projects.

The conference was attended by Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long, representatives from Ministry units, and leaders of energy corporations and groups. Participating via local broadcasting points were leaders of provincial and municipal People's Committees and relevant departments. The meeting aimed to implement Directive No. 01 dated January 18, 2026, issued by the Prime Minister on tasks and solutions to ensure sufficient electricity supply for production, business, and daily life during the peak periods of 2026 and the 2027-2030 phase.

During the conference, representatives from various localities and energy groups updated the implementation progress of projects and focused on discussing existing bottlenecks while providing proposals to resolve difficulties and ensure the timely deployment of power source and transmission projects.

Based on the reports and proposals presented at the meeting, Acting Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung highly appreciated the close coordination among localities, groups, enterprises, and Ministry units in fulfilling the mission of ensuring energy security. This includes electricity supply efforts in recent years, particularly in 2025, amidst extreme and unpredictable weather conditions.

Emphasizing the vital importance of ensuring energy security, including the security of electricity supply, and the implementation of Directive No. 01 issued by the Prime Minister, Acting Minister Le Manh Hung stated that this is an extremely important political task for the Industry and Trade sector.

To enable units to proactively develop specific plans to meet electricity demands for socio-economic development and daily life in 2026, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 3477 on November 28, 2025, approving the National Power System Operation Method (National Power Supply and Operation Plan) for 2026.

Accordingly, the Acting Minister requested that EVN and other energy groups coordinate with localities, the Electricity Regulatory Authority, and NSMO to calculate and forecast risks for each operational scenario to adjust and control activities, ensuring the goal of preventing any electricity shortages.

For the 2027-2030 period, aiming to proactively ensure electricity supply for production, business, and socio-economic development goals, the Acting Minister of Industry and Trade requested units to focus on the synchronized implementation of key tasks. In this regard, he emphasized the necessity of developing a set of policy guidelines and clear, unified legal interpretations for the deployment of power source and transmission projects.

On that basis, he requested units to proactively forecast and propose necessary policies to stay one step ahead, creating institutional momentum. At the same time, he directed units to coordinate and review the synchronization between power sources, transmission systems, and distribution systems, alongside adjustments in administrative boundaries and planning to calculate project adjustments.

Regarding the management and implementation of the adjusted Power Development Plan VIII, the Acting Minister of Industry and Trade stated that it is necessary to build a synchronized management system and database between the central and local levels. Local Departments of Industry and Trade must coordinate closely with EVN in advising provincial People’s Committees on balancing loads and mobilizing resources for projects to serve socio-economic development. He also noted that coordination between ministries, sectors, and localities needs to be further strengthened, especially in communication efforts regarding economic electricity use.

Reaffirming the mission and important political task of ensuring energy security and electricity supply, Acting Minister Le Manh Hung requested localities, groups, and enterprises to accompany, coordinate, grasp, and organize the implementation of the proposed tasks and solutions with the spirit of absolutely not allowing electricity shortages under any circumstances.
