Great opportunity to promote Hue’s image

The National Tourism Year 2025 will take place in the centrally-governed city of Hue in 2025, the year marking the 50th anniversary of the former Thua Thien Hue Province’s liberation day, and other significant national celebrations. The fact that Thua Thien Hue Province has become a centrally-governed city since January 1, 2025 provides immense advantages for economic and tourism development in the region, offering a huge opportunity to promote the city’s image. It also lays the groundwork for sustainable development in Hue, based on the preservation and enhancement of the cultural heritage of the Ancient Capital.

Nguyen Thanh Binh, Vice Chairman of the Hue City People’s Committee, has said tourism and services will be spearhead economic sectors in the city, and the National Tourism Year 2025 is expected to significantly boost tourism development.

The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) has assessed that Hue’s tourism sector has seen substantial growth in recent years. The city has developed consistent policies to foster its tourism industry, including those to promote the creation of new attractive tourism products, improvement of the quality of pedestrian streets, and diversification of nighttime activities and culinary experiences along night streets.

Deputy Director General of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism Ha Van Sieu said the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has been working with Hue to successfully organize the National Tourism Year activities, including promotion of Vietnamese tourism products in general and those of Hue in particular to attract visitors from European countries like France, Germany, Italy, among others, and host a forum on cultural industry development in Hue.

Breakthrough for Hue tourism

According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, the National Tourism Year 2025 will feature more than 160 national and provincial-level events seeing the participation of numerous provinces and cities nationwide. It will be held pertaining to Hue Festival 2025, and the development of innovative new tours and experiential services aligned with Hue’s unique strengths and potential.

There will be Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter Festivals throughout the Tourism Year.

The Tourism Year’s opening ceremony, scheduled for the evening of March 25, 2025, will feature an artistic fireworks display to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Thua Thien Hue.

An international conference on cultural industries as foundation for sustainable tourism development will take place on March 25, 2025, while a Cultural and Tourism Festival, and a program to showcase Vietnam’s tourism, cuisine, and traditional crafts, as well as to foster business connections in the European market, are scheduled for June 2025.

The closing ceremony of the National Tourism Year 2025 will be held in late December 2025.
