The delegation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, comprising 33 servicemen, arrived at Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi) at noon on August 20. First Lieutenant Mikhailov Anton Vladimirovich, the unit commander, had the honour of serving in the Colour Guard at the Victory Day Parade marking the 80th Anniversary of the Great Patriotic War (May 9, 1945 – May 9, 2025) on Red Square in Moscow, where for the first time the Vietnam People’s Army took part.

The contingent includes 120 servicemen, among them 20 who previously participated in the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification of Vietnam (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025), and 49 servicemen who joined the parade in Russia commemorating the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Together with the Lao People’s Army, the participation of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces in this year’s commemoration carries profound significance. It demonstrates Vietnam’s deep appreciation for the special bond of combat solidarity and the steadfast, loyal alliance among the three Indochinese countries throughout their struggles against common enemies, in the cause of national independence and nation-building.
Upon their arrival in Hanoi, the delegations made great efforts to overcome challenges related to weather, time pressure, differences in time zones, and living conditions, in order to promptly commence training, joint rehearsals, and the final review within the formation of Vietnam’s military parade contingents.
The participation of these international military delegations in the upcoming commemoration at the historic Ba Dinh Square stands as a noble symbol of national unity and international solidarity, in pursuit of peace, cooperation, friendship, and development.
