Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh recently issued the capital’s Plan 139/KH-UBND to implement the Politburo’s Resolution 29-NQ/TU dated November 17, 2022 on further promoting the country’s industrialization and modernization until 2030, with a vision to 2045.

Under the plan, Hanoi will strengthen the development of the support industry serving its key sectors – component and spare part manufacture, leather/footwear, textile/garment, and high-tech industries.

In January, the Hanoi People’s Committee issued plan 02/KH-UBND on industrial development, according to which the city will have about 950 support industry enterprises in 2023 (20 more than 2022), including 300-350 enterprises with international standard production and products, capable of joining global production chains of multinational corporations in Vietnam.

The support industry is expected to account for 16-17 percent of the city’s industrial production value and reach an IIP (Index of Industrial Production) growth rate of 11-12 percent in 2023, an increase of about one percent over 2022. The city’s support industry enterprises have become suppliers of domestic and foreign customers, through which they help attract foreign investment in the support industry.

Hanoi will hire consultants to provide technical support for its support industry enterprises making products in the list of products prioritized for development, help them apply advanced management needed for participating in global production chains, and hold support industry fairs and exhibitions to attract manufacturers from Japan, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong (China) and Thailand, apart from domestic ones. Those events will provide information exchange and supply-demand connection opportunities for the city’s support industry producers.

Hanoi will also help support industry enterprises receive, renovate and apply advanced, modern technology, purchase copyrights, patents and software, and promote research and development (R&D).

Hanoi has been placing priority on the support industry development in compliance with its socioeconomic conditions while attracting resources and investment from all economic sectors to qualitatively and quantitatively develop this field.
