This year’s hot season is expected to begin in the second half of April across many parts of Vietnam and last for two to three months, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting. As a result, electricity consumption is projected to surge dramatically.

A joint oil exploration and extraction project in Algeria, involving Vietnam’s Petrovietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP), Algeria’s state-owned Sonatrach, and Thailand’s PTTEP, has entered its second phase, building on a track record of success.

Affordable and competitive electricity rates play a vital role in ensuring consistent revenue streams for private enterprises, encouraging their participation in Vietnam's domestic energy market.

It aims to mobilise domestic and international resources for power sector development, adopt co-firing technology with clean fuels to gradually reduce emissions from coal-fired plants, phase out outdated and inefficient facilities, and accelerate renewable energy expansion to ensure stable and affordable electricity supply.

A 1,200 MW wind power plant in Nong district, Laos’ Savannakhet province is expected to export 1,526 kWh to Vietnam annually once its first phase completes by the end of 2027, and additionally 1,112 million kWh per year after its second phase becomes operational in 2030.

In 2025, the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute (VAEI) at the Ministry of Science and Technology will strengthen bilateral and multilateral collaboration with global partners to advance scientific research and practical applications in atomic energy.

With this nuclear power scenario, the provinces are located in the south central, central and north central regions.
