To Lam’s visit marks new historical milestone in Viet Nam-South Korea relations

Kim made the above statement during his meeting with the General Secretary in Seoul, on August 11, as part of the Vietnamese leader's four-day State visit to South Korea.

The Prime Minister expressed his hope that Viet Nam would create favorable conditions for Korean enterprises to participate in the nation's key projects in the fields of nuclear power development, energy infrastructure, digital infrastructure, climate change–resilient infrastructure, and high-speed railways.

He affirmed that South Korea will further expand the scale of its aid in Viet Nam, especially in such areas as research and development (R&D) and innovation.

Kim vowed to prioritize cooperation with Viet Nam in enhancing the training of high-quality human resources to serve the economic development of both countries in the coming period.

The South Korean Government is actively considering to simplify visa procedures for Vietnamese citizens and will carry out support measures for foreign brides, including those from Viet Nam, to help them maintain a stable life in South Korea, told the host.

To, for his part, stated that science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and human resource training should become new pillars of bilateral relations.

He called for joining hands in developing strategic technology industries and stepping up collaboration in telecommunications, information technology, e-government, biotechnology, climate technology, nanotechnology, clean energy, renewable energy and digital transformation.

The guest welcomed the signing of the extension of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on dispatch and reception of workers to work in South Korea under the EPS program (Employment Permit System for foreign workers in South Korea).

To suggested that South Korea continue to increase quotas and expand the range of occupations for labor recruitment.

He urged South Korea to support Viet Nam in training high-quality human resources in all spheres of semiconductors, electric vehicles, biotechnology, shipbuilding, and artificial intelligence.

The two leaders pledged to boost economic cooperation towards a more substantive, effective, and comprehensive manner, creating a strong bond of shared interests between the two countries.

They underlined the need for both sides to closely together to effectively implement the contents in the action plan to achieve the goal of raising the bilateral trade turnover to US$150 billion in a more balanced manner by 2030./.
