Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long visits MoIT schools in Southern Vietnam

Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long has urged schools to enhance training quality and innovate curricula to better align with the labor market and corporate demands.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long visited and held a working session with representatives of educational institutions under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) in Southern Vietnam at the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH) on the afternoon of January 30.

The meeting aimed to evaluate recent achievements in training and scientific research while outlining key tasks for the new development phase.

The MOIT delegation included leaders from various departments, agencies, the Ministry’s Office, and the Industry and Trade Newspaper. Representing the educational institutions were leaders from the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, and the College of Foreign Economic Relations, along with key managers and lecturers.

Delivering his keynote speech at the session, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long emphasized that despite numerous difficulties and challenges, the schools have demonstrated a spirit of solidarity, responsibility, and innovation. He noted their significant efforts and commendable results in training, scientific research, and community service, which have played a crucial role in providing human resources for the socio-economic development of the southern region and the country at large.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long emphasized that each institution possesses unique strengths and has gradually asserted its position within the educational system. The Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City and the Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade continue to play key roles as training centers for technical, industrial, and commercial human resources, meeting the requirements of industrialization, modernization, and international integration. Meanwhile, the College of Foreign Economic Relations maintains its role in training practical human resources closely linked to the practical needs of enterprises and the labor market.

Entering the new year, the Deputy Minister requested that the schools build upon their recent achievements and focus on effectively implementing assigned tasks. Key priorities include enhancing training quality and accelerating the innovation of content, curricula, and teaching methods toward increasing practical application and aligning training with the demands of the labor market and businesses.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long further emphasized the need to strengthen coordination and linkages among educational institutions under the Ministry, leveraging each unit's strengths and using resources efficiently to improve overall operational quality and effectiveness.

In the coming period, numerous large-scale projects will be deployed, including two nuclear power projects with an investment of approximately USD 25 billion each. These projects require a large volume of high-quality human resources. The Deputy Minister requested that training units proactively develop specialized training programs immediately and engage with relevant partners.

Speaking at the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Phan Hong Hai, Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City, on behalf of the school leaders, expressed gratitude to Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long and the Ministry of Industry and Trade leadership for their constant attention and close guidance. He noted that such support has created favorable conditions for educational institutions in human resource development for the industry and trade sector, specifically, and the national economy in general.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Phan Hong Hai, in response to the Ministry leadership’s attention, the collective of leaders, lecturers, and managers of the schools has remained proactive and drastic in innovation. They continuously improve training quality, refine content and teaching methods, and focus on developing comprehensive skills for students to meet the increasing demands of society and the labor market.
