Vietnam and China sign protocol on fresh jackfruit exports
On November 27 in Beijing, Vietnam and China signed a protocol on fresh jackfruit exports, marking a new step forward in agricultural trade between the two countries.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, on the second day of his official visit to China (November 26-28), Minister Tran Duc Thang and leaders of affiliated units held a working session with the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC), led by Deputy Commissioner-General Zhao Zenglian.

Minister Tran Duc Thang and China’s Deputy Commissioner-General Zhao Zenglian sign the protocol on fresh jackfruit exports in Beijing on November 27.
Deputy Commissioner-General Zhao highlighted the long-standing, friendly and cooperative relations between Vietnam and China. “This year marks the 75th anniversary of our diplomatic ties, with many important events and commemorative activities,” he said, stressing that Minister Thang’s visit demonstrates the effective cooperation between both sides, including between the Ministry and GACC.
“I believe that following this mission, bilateral cooperation, especially in economic, social, and two-way trade will develop even further,” Zhao affirmed.
He emphasized that China values trade with Vietnam and is ready to open its market to high-quality Vietnamese agricultural products. As the agency in charge of quarantine and market access, GACC will work to realize the shared goals set by the top leaders of both Parties and States.
“This year, we have already signed four protocols on the export of chili, passion fruit, rice bran, and raw bird’s nest. Today (November 27), we will sign the protocol on fresh jackfruit exports from Vietnam to China. This will create new momentum for bilateral agricultural trade,” Zhao said.
He also reaffirmed GACC’s willingness to strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese authorities to advance shared goals and contribute to building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future.
For Vietnam, Minister Tran Duc Thang expressed his pleasure at working with GACC and noted that bilateral cooperation has been strengthened in recent years. He stressed that Vietnam’s Party and State leaders always prioritize reinforcing ties with China across all fields, especially agriculture and environmental cooperation.

He highlighted that China continues to be a critically important import-export market for Vietnam, with two-way trade in the first ten months of 2025 already surpassing total trade in 2024.
The Minister stressed the need to further enhance cooperation with China in sectors under the Ministry’s purview. Beyond trade, he also emphasized investment promotion, noting that the two countries share a long land border, an important advantage for trade and investment connectivity.
“I hope the Ministry and GACC will continue to exchange and strengthen this cooperation,” he stated, expressing appreciation to GACC for its coordination in facilitating the signing of the fresh jackfruit export protocol.
During the meeting, Minister Thang and Zhao Zenglian also discussed technical issues related to agricultural, forestry and fishery trade between the two countries.
Agricultural trade between Vietnam and China has seen many bright spots in 2025. As of October, China had imported USD 8.7 billion worth of Vietnamese agricultural products, evidence of close cooperation between both sides, with strong support from the Vietnamese Embassy in China.
