As of 7am, the eye of the storm was at about 18.4 degrees North latitude, 119.8 degrees East longitude, in the northeastern area of the north East Sea. The velocity near its centre was 62-74 km per hour, heading west-northwest at a speed of about 20-25 km per hour.
The typhoon is forecast to keep moving in the same direction at about 10 km per hour on September 4, and change to the west on September 5-6. In the following 72 to 120 hours, the storm will move mainly in the west-northwest direction at 10-15km per hour, with stronger winds.
From September 4-6, Typhoon Yagi may reach very strong level in the northeast of the East Sea.
In the next 24 hours, 2-4m waves may occur in the eastern part of the north East Sea, which may rise to 5-7m on September 4-6, causing rough sea which is very dangerous for ships operating in this area.
Torrential rains are forecast in the area from Ha Tinh to Binh Dinh, the Central Highlands and the South.
The NCHF warned that torrential rains are likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas, along with flash floods on small rivers and streams, and landslides on steep slopes. It advised localities to regularly monitor real-time warnings of areas at risk of flash floods and landslides at its website at https://luquetsatlo.nchmf.gov.vn and in bulletins warning of flash floods and landslides.

On September 3, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh ordered prompt measures from ministries, sectors, and localities against the typhoon.
In a dispatch, the government leader noted that the storm has very high possibility of directly affecting the sea and land areas of the Northern and North Central regions, and asked heads of relevant ministries and localities to keep a close eye on its developments, giving timely directions on responding measures, ensuring safety of life and minimising property damage.
At the same time, they were requested to guide people to prepare against the storm, instructing vessels operating at sea to seek safe shelters, actively evacuating people from high-risk areas to safer places, and protecting the safety of infrastructures.
The PM also ordered relevant ministries and localities to prepare forces and vehicles for search and rescue activities. He asked media agencies to continuously updating the movements of the typhoon and providing guidance for people to response to it.
The Government leader assigned Deputy PM Tran Hong Ha to directly follow the implementation of this dispatch./.
