In 2025, consumer rights protection continues to be associated with the theme “Transparent Information - Responsible Consumption,” which highlights the crucial role of awareness among producers, businesses, and consumers themselves. Could you provide more details about this theme?
In 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has chosen the theme “Transparent Information - Responsible Consumption” for activities to mark the Vietnam Consumer Rights Day, aimed to raise awareness and responsibility of protecting consumer rights among producers, businesses, and consumers. This is especially important amid the context of widespread fraudulent trade, deceit, and the provision of incomplete or inaccurate information.

The responsibility to provide information and engage in sustainable, responsible consumption is an essential part that has been added and refined in the 2023 Consumer Rights Protection Law. Meanwhile, consumers are responsible for choosing products and goods with clear origins and compliance with legal regulations on sustainable consumption, and so on. Furthermore, the theme “Transparent Information - Responsible Consumption” is appropriate and reflects global trends and concerns in the process of digital transformation, green transformation, as well as the strong development of online business, consumption, and e-commerce.
What activities will the MoIT implement in response to Vietnam Consumer Rights Day this year?
According to Plan No.7604/KH-BCT dated September 27, 2024 of the MoIT, activities for consumer rights are encouraged from the year-end shopping season 2024, with a peak focus in March and will continue throughout 2025, particularly in peak business and shopping periods, such as the New Year’s Day, Lunar New Year Festival, shopping seasons, or major market sale days. To date, most provinces and cities across the country have launched activities in response to the Vietnam Consumer Rights Day.
In 2025, the MoIT plans to carry out several activities, including organizing the launch ceremony for the Vietnam Consumer Rights Day 2025 (in Hai Phong on March 14, 2025); conducting communication and information dissemination activities; organizing seminars, training sessions, and courses on the theme; collaborating with businesses to express gratitude to customers; organizing public events aimed at consumers, or competitions on legal regulations, knowledge, business skills, and consumer rights protection.

With such a diverse range of activities, what are the MoIT’s expectations for consumer rights protection in the coming time?
With directions from party committees, local governments, and related organizations at all levels, as well as the effective coordination of relevant units, the National Competition Commission believes that consumer rights protection will continue to achieve positive results in the near future; and always receive active participation, support, and collaboration from related parties.
The commission recommends that the business community and consumers actively respond to the event. This is also the common message for all consumer rights protection activities, especially in the context of the booming e-commerce business today to call for transparent, accurate, and complete information for consumers; raise awareness, encourage consumers to take an active role in monitoring the responsibility of businesses to protect their rights. This, in turn, helps create a safe consumption environment for all participants./
