Bui Cong Anh, Deputy Head of the provincial Coordinating Office for New Rural Development, said that the province currently exports 23 OCOP products, including Le Gia shrimp paste and shrimp sauce exported to Russia, the Republic of Korea, Chinese Taipei, and South Africa; Viet Anh Company’s handicrafts and sedge products exported directly to the US; BambooVina’s bamboo products exported to Europe, Germany, and the US; canned pineapple and sweet corn from Trung Thanh Agricultural Products Processing Joint Stock Company and Tu Thanh Company exported to European countries, Russia, the Republic of Korea, and Australia. The export value reached an estimated US$6 billion in 2023, and is expected to reach US$8 billion in 2024. Notably, Viet Anh Company in Nga Son District exports five OCOP products.
Enhancing trade promotion, digital transformation
Thanh Hoa Province is promoting the sale of OCOP products through e-commerce platforms. It has organized promotion campaigns to introduce and sell OCOP products at supermarkets and tourist destinations in Sam Son City and Thanh Hoa City. Points of sale have been set up to promote OCOP products inside and outside the province. Catalogues and newsletters introducing Thanh Hoa’s OCOP products have been published.
The province has intensified the application of information technology and digital transformation to disseminate information about OCOP products and facilitate their traceability. The quality of OCOP products has been improved to gain consumer trust, meeting the criteria of supermarkets and distributors to expand the market within and outside the province. In 2024, OCOP producers continue to be provided with training and support to make video clips introducing their products on digital platforms and social media.

Bui Cong Anh said that Thanh Hoa Province will continue to promote its OCOP program on central and local newspapers and radio stations, electronic information portals, websites and social media platforms. Training will be strengthened to improve awareness of the OCOP program’s contents and objectives for OCOP producers and consulting officials in this field. Guidance will be provided for producers to save the cost of applying for recognition, re-recognition, and upgrade of OCOP products.
In addition, Thanh Hoa will also intensify the inspection of recognized OCOP products. Small-scale production will be transformed towards the formation of closed value chains with the participation of cooperatives and small and medium enterprises. Efforts will be focused on effective implementation of the OCOP program for 2024. Digital transformation and the application of information technology will be intensified to ensure effective management of OCOP product data, while promoting the sale of OCOP products through e-commerce.
The province will provide further support to increase domestic sale of OCOP products at points of sale, supermarkets, as well as to promote the export of these products to new, potential markets.
