The visit takes place as the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Slovakia continue to be maintained and further strengthened.
After receiving flowers from children of the capital, the two leaders walked along the red carpet to the podium of honor in a solemn atmosphere, as students waved the national flags of both countries.

Under the national flags of Vietnam and Slovakia, the two national anthems were played. The two Prime Ministers performed the flag salute ceremony, after which Prime Minister Le Minh Hung invited Prime Minister Robert Fico to review the Guard of Honour of the Vietnam People’s Army. The two leaders introduced members of their high-level delegations attending the ceremony and witnessed a ceremonial parade held in their honour.
Following the welcoming ceremony, the two Prime Ministers moved to the Government Headquarters for talks and to witness the signing and exchange of cooperation documents between Vietnam and Slovakia. Prior to the talks, they toured a photo exhibition on the countries, people, and the strong bilateral ties, jointly organized by the Government Office and the Vietnam News Agency.
After 76 years of diplomatic relations, Vietnam-Slovakia ties have remained stable, with regular exchanges of delegations at all levels and increased high-level contacts. Economic and trade cooperation has maintained positive growth momentum, reaching USD 1.73 billion in 2024 and approximately USD 1.78 billion in 2025. Slovakia ratified the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) in February 2023.
As of the end of 2025, Slovakia had 16 valid investment projects in Vietnam with total registered capital exceeding USD 140 million, while Vietnam had one investment project in Slovakia with total capital of USD 447,000. Cooperation in areas such as defence and security, science and technology, culture and tourism, and labour has continued to be maintained and gradually expanded.
Notably, Slovak citizens have been granted visa-free entry to Vietnam from August 15, 2025 to August 14, 2028. The Vietnamese community of around 10,000 people in Slovakia has been recognized as the country’s 14th ethnic minority, serving as an important bridge for promoting bilateral friendship.
Building on the strong traditional relationship, Prime Minister Robert Fico’s official visit to Vietnam is expected to help strengthen political trust, promote substantive cooperation across various sectors, and open up new directions, creating fresh momentum for Vietnam-Slovakia relations in the coming period.
