Steering Committee for operation of Long Thanh Airport established

Accordingly, the Steering Committee is headed by the leader of the Ministry of Transport. The Deputy Heads of the Committee include the Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (Standing Deputy Head), the General Director of Airports Corporation of Vietnam and representatives of the leaderships of departments under the Ministry of Transport.

The Steering Committee functions as a lead unit for inter-sectoral coordination to resolve issues emerging in the preparation for the operation of Long Thanh Airport and organize overall coordination for the exploitation of the airport, including directing the test operations and handovers of terminals, ensuring synchronous operations once the airport is put into use.

At the same time, the Steering Committee is also responsible for handling difficulties between agencies and units during the preparation process for exploitation; directing and transferring exploitation of terminals as scheduled, ensuring publicity, transparency and responsibility of relevant agencies and units.

In addition, the Steering Committee will make proposals and recommendations to competent authorities and the working group of the Long Thanh International Airport construction investment project according to Decision No.401/2023 of the Prime Minister regarding issues beyond its authority.

Previously, after the inspection of the Long Thanh Airport construction site on December 3, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assigned the Ministry of Transport to establish a steering committee to prepare for the operation of this airport to direct and coordinate overall work to promote the effectiveness of the project. Regarding progress, the Prime Minister requested that the items of Phase 1 must be basically completed by December 31, 2025.
