On December 22, in Hanoi, the “PV GAS - Green Energy Journey” marathon concluded successfully, attracting the participation of 2,200 runners. This event marked a spectacular start to a series of races promoting the meaningful message of environmental protection and sustainable development, organized by the Petrovietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS).

The inaugural race in Hanoi left a deep impression as participants traversed the most picturesque routes around West Lake. With the three challenge distances of 5km - Green Start, 10km - Beyond Limits, and 15km - Conquering the Future, the race was not only a sports playground, but also a call for collective action towards a greener planet amidst the challenges of climate change and environmental degradation.

At 4:30 AM, the starting signal for the 15km distance rang out, initiating the journey of “green steps” towards a sustainable future. Following that were participants in the 5km and 10km categories, creating a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere around West Lake. The route, praised as ideal, featured cool and crisp weather, passing by famous landmarks of the capital. The isolated track, skirting the lake’s edge at dawn, offered a unique experience for the runners, who cherished both the scenery and the emotions it evoked for effective performance.

Adding to the excitement, the slogan “Green Energy Journey” inspired runners, often hailed as “artists in sports.” Alongside the vibrant green uniforms of the event, runners brought a festive, cheerful, and energetic atmosphere with creative team outfits and messages of solidarity, determination, or simply the joy of welcoming Christmas. Among the colorful crowd, the yellow uniforms representing PV GAS workers stood out. Thousands of runners, not all professionals but each with their unique stories and goals, contributed to the event’s spirit. Notably, the race coincided with the 70th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army, promoting a sense of pride and excitement.

The Hanoi leg concluded with impressive results, awarding six sets of medals to men and women across the three distances. The race also celebrated the enthusiastic community spirit by presenting finisher medals to all participants who completed their registered distances. Additionally, green trees were gifted to those who pledged to protect the environment and use clean energy sources.

Harvesting success right on the opening day of the event series, “PV GAS - Green Energy Journey,” was more than just a sports event. According to the plan, the next race will take place in Ho Chi Minh City on January 5, 2025. This second leg promises more joy and shared understanding, expanding its positive impact within the community.
