Petrovietnam staff join removal of temporary, dilapidated houses

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh recently launched a movement nationwide to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses from now until 2025, with capital mobilized from different sources in the society to carry out three major tasks: the implementation of the housing support policy for people with meritorious services to the revolution; the housing support policy according to national target programs and “Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses” for households not belonging to the two above groups. With joint efforts and unanimity, most people have got solidified houses, but there are still hundreds of thousands of households living in temporary, dilapidated houses.

With the spirit of mutual love and affection to bring houses to compatriots, Petrovietnam and its subsidiaries have supported the construction of more than 3,100 solidarity houses for the poor nationwide from 2021 to 2023, with a total funding of up to VND160 billion, bringing settlements to thousands of disadvantaged households. This is a symbol of solidarity, care and sharing of the Group with those who are still living in difficulties.

As of September 2024, Petrovietnam and its affiliates have donated VND113.84 billion to build 2,161 solidarity houses for the poor in many provinces such as Cao Bang, Gia Lai, Ha Nam, Hoa Binh, Hai Duong, Tra Vinh, Ca Mau, Yen Bai, Can Tho, Kien Giang, Nghe An, Lam Dong and Hau Giang.

This activity is even more meaningful in the context of the recent natural disasters, which have left many people homeless. With the government approval, Petrovietnam partnered with local authorities to rebuild Kho Vang village community in Coc Lau Commune, Lao Cai Province, an area heavily affected by the historic storm No.3.

With the tradition of Petrovietnam to promote the spirit of solidarity, empathy and sharing with people across the country, the Group and its subsidiaries have allocated VND138 billion for social welfare from 2024 to 2025, to sponsor the construction of 2,760 solidarity houses for the poor. In addition, the oil and gas workers have volunteered extra time with the model “Saturday Charity Days” to add to the corporation’s social welfare fund. These activities have created a strong effect across oil and gas projects and factories nationwide.

In recent years, alongside with production and business activities, Petrovietnam and its member units have also paid special attention to social security and considered it an important task and responsibility of the Group towards the community and society. Petrovietnam also assigned its member units to implement a series of social security programs nationwide, such as building houses of gratitude, social housing; supporting natural disaster prevention and control; building schools, acquiring educational equipment for disadvantaged localities; supporting those in need with medical facilities and equipment, etc.

This is an important activity in the long-term, sustainable development strategy associated with Petrovietnam’s core values: “Aspiration - Intelligence - Professionalism - Affection,” the responsibility and affection of oil and gas workers towards the society, and motivation for the poor to settle down, start a business, and be assured on their production development.
