IP Vietnam reported that in 2024, it received a total of 152,619 applications of various types, a 2.4 percent decrease compared to 2023. These included 89,033 applications for industrial property right registration, an increase of 5 percent, and 63,586 other applications and requests, a decrease of 11.3 percent.

The Office processed 143,288 applications of various types, an increase of 13.9 percent compared to 2023, including 87,048 applications for industrial property right registration, up 17.4 percent, and 56,240 other applications/requests, up 8.8 percent. Additionally, 53,674 industrial property protection certificates were issued, an increase of 45.2 percent compared to 2023.

Specifically, processed applications for the registration of industrial property rights included 9,581 patent/utility solution applications, 3,311 industrial design applications, 64,091 national brand applications, 221 collective mark/certification mark applications, 9,501 international trademark applications, nine geographical indication applications, and 334 international applications originating from Vietnam.

Industrial property protection certificates issued by IP Vietnam in 2024 include 4,875 patents/utility solution certificates, 2,001 industrial design patents, 46,616 national brand registration certificates, 171 collective mark/certification mark registration certificates, and 11 geographical indication registration certificates.

Le Huy Anh, Deputy Director General of IP Vietnam, shared that in 2024, the Office successfully handled a substantial workload, reaffirming its increasingly significant role in the country’s socioeconomic development, as well as in science, technology, and innovation. Specifically, the Office processed the highest-ever number of industrial property applications and promoted international cooperation in the field of intellectual property, significantly contributing to Vietnam’s external relations achievements.
