More employment opportunities for people with disabilities
Currently, there are more than 6.4 million PWDs nationwide; of those millions are raised and cared for in social assistance facilities. Nearly 1,000 PWDs have received support in vocational training; more than 1,000 projects for them have received loans, creating jobs for about 10,000 workers with disabilities.
Delegates ring the bell to open the job fair integrating the recruitment of workers with disabilities |
In recent years, the Party and State have always paid special attention to policies on supporting PWDs. The National Assembly has issued the Law on People with Disabilities, and the Government has issued and implemented many policies to protect, care for and support this type of special people. Thus, along with the socio-economic development, the material and spiritual life and status of PWDs have been improved.
However, workers with disabilities still face many difficulties in finding jobs due to their lack of skills and knowledge. Many of them do not even know what their abilities or interests are. Besides, psychology is the problem that PWDs or their families are facing.
To create more jobs for PWDs, recently, the Hanoi Employment Service Center has coordinated with the Hanoi Association of People with Disabilities to organize the second job fair that included recruitment opportunities for PWDs in 2024. At the fair, 37 organizations and businesses offered 1,286 job and vocational training opportunities. Notably, 14 companies and vocational training centers that employ PWDs participated in, with 516 positions available.
According to Ta Van Thao, Director of the Hanoi Employment Service Center, employment assistance for PWDs help them confidently overcome their circumstances and integrate into the community is the work of profound humanitarian significance, and also recognizes the role of PWDs in life. Currently, Hanoi has over 110,000 PWDs, of whom more than 7,700 are capable of working. Many individuals with disabilities have risen above their circumstances to become business owners, affirming their value and contributing to social development.
Over time, under the direction of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Hanoi Employment Service Center has regularly organized job fairs aimed at recruiting PWDs. These events encourage and support PWDs to learn and actively participate in the labor market.
Employment support for PWDs is not only the responsibility of the State but also the responsibility of the entire community; therefore, Van Thao expressed his hope that the business community would promote a greater sense of responsibility to join the State and the entire society in bringing job opportunities to PWDs.
