MM Mega Market (Vietnam) Supplier Conference 2023 shares insights on current trends in the retail industry

MM Mega Market (Vietnam) recently organized the Supplier Conference 2023 with the theme “Share – Build - Thrive”. The conference featured insights from leading experts in retail, data research, digital advertising, and energy management.

The event was attended by 200 suppliers and 500 guests who are essential partners of MM Mega Market, providing an overview of the market, supply chain, digital transformation, and sustainable development in the Vietnamese retail industry.

Over the past 20 years, MM Mega Market (MMVN) has developed 21 distribution centres, operated six fresh food transfer stations nationwide, and maintained eight delivery warehouses serving 30,000 professional B2B customers. With an average of 1,000,000 visitors per month, professional customers contribute 55 percent of the revenue, while 45 percent comes from household customers. MMVN has collaborated with 2,000 suppliers to distribute over 30,000 items in 150 product categories.

As part of the expansion strategy, MM Mega Market plans to increase the total number of distribution centres nationwide to 59 by 2028, focusing on the hypermarket and food supermarket models. MMVN is currently advancing its first complex centre project with an investment of approximately US$20 million, covering an area of 19 thousand square meters in Da Nang City.

Additionally, MMVN launched the "Good Price" project in March 2022, supporting businesses in transitioning from traditional grocery models to modern retail. As of December 2023, Good Price has reached the milestone of 1,000 stores nationwide.

In 2023, MMVN digitized the last-mile delivery system for 28 distribution centers and 20 transport service providers. After over three months of implementation, the system recorded nearly 145,000 orders with over 72,000 deliveries, resulting in a reduction of emissions and transportation distances by up to 34 percent.

The MMPro ecommerce platform for B2B customers, MM Click&Get for household customers, and the MCard loyalty program are considered key strategies for MM Mega Market in the digitalization and development of the omnichannel retail model. With a significant increase in online shopping users in 2023 (a 73 percent revenue increase for MM Click&Get and a 471 percent increase for MM Pro), MMVN recognizes a strong trend towards digital transformation. Through e-commerce, MMVN provides customers with a "one-touch" experience compatible with all mobile devices, making it easy to purchase quality products with a range of discounts and electronic gift vouchers.

MMVN committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2040 through sustainable activities. To date, MMVN has implemented rooftop solar energy systems, and energy-saving devices including LED lights, refrigerators, HVAC systems, etc., in centers, reducing nearly 10,000 tons of CO2 equivalent, saving 16 percent of energy consumption. Additionally, MMVN pioneered the construction of a comprehensive waste sorting model with four aluminum can collection stations, five plastic bottle collection stations, and a reduction of nearly 190 tonnes of food waste.

Through the Supplier Conference 2023, MMVN provides a comprehensive view of the retail market, calling for the collaboration of suppliers to work towards common sustainable development goals and price stability in the future.
