Long Thanh Airport’s runways expected to be completed three months ahead of schedule

(VEN) - The phase-3 project at Vietnam’s US$16-billion and largest airport – Long Thanh – is expected to complete basic construction before December 2025, with equipment installation and trial operations beginning in early 2026.

On November 11, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) reported to the national steering committee for major national transport infrastructure projects on the progress of the phase-3 project at Long Thanh International Airport. The report says the project is expected to complete basic construction before December 2025, with equipment installation and trial operations beginning in early 2026, aiming for full completion before August 31, 2026.

To meet this timeline, ACV reported that contractors have mobilized nearly 2,400 personnel and over 1,500 machines to construct steel roof structures, brick walls on the ground, first and second floors, and build roof-support columns.

All procurement and ordering of terminal equipment have been contracted and are being produced and processed according to schedule.

Almost 30.47 percent of the contract’s value has been done. In November, contractors will continue with roof steel structure and glass wall installation.

ACV said that contractors have mobilized 2,136 personnel and 518 machines to construct the runways, taxiways and aprons. The runways are expected to be completed and begin technical operations before April 30, 2025 (three months ahead of schedule) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

In mid-September 2024, ACV signed a contract with a contractor consortium to build the passenger terminal apron. The construction began on September 20 and is expected to be completed on August 11, 2026.

According to ACV, VND 3.059 trillion or 42.23 percent of the contract value has been done. All components have undergone technical inspections to ensure quality and progress as required.

The construction and installation of the aircraft fuel supply system began on October 25 and is scheduled for completion within 600 days.

By the end of October, ACV signed a contract for construction of transport infrastructure and technical facilities inside the airport, which is expected to be completed within 685 days./.
