The labor force aged 15 and over nationwide in the fourth quarter of 2024 was estimated at 53.2 million people, up by 390.1 thousand people compared to the previous quarter and 625.3 thousand people compared to the same period of 2023. In general, in 2024, the labor force aged 15 and over is nearly 53 million people, an increase by 575.4 thousand people compared to 2023.

Labor market continues to show positive signals

The number of employed people in the fourth quarter of 2024 was estimated at 52.1 million people, increasing by 414.9 thousand people compared to the previous quarter and by 639.1 thousand people compared to the same period of 2023. In 2024, the number of employed people was 51.9 million, up by 585,100 (or 1.1%) compared to 2023.

The unemployment rate in the working-age people in the fourth quarter of 2024 was 1.65%, down 0.22 percentage points compared to the previous quarter and down 0.32 percentage points compared to the same period of 2023. In 2024, the unemployment rate among working-age people stood at 1.84%, down 0.18 percentage points compared to 2023.

The average income of workers during this period was VND8.2 million per month, an increase of VND550,000 compared to the third quarter of 2024 and an increase of VND890,000 compared to the same period in 2023. In general, in 2024, the average income of workers reached VND7.7 million per month, an increase of 8.6%, equivalent to VND610,000 compared to 2023.

Notably, the average monthly income of workers increased in most economic sectors. The General Statistics Office listed sectors with a fairly high income growth rate, such as the production and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water, and steam at VND11.5 million, up by VND1.3 million.

Next is the financial, banking, and insurance sectors at VND12.8 million, an increase by VND1.3 million. In addition, the mining and real estate business sectors also saw significant income increases.
