Diabetes is a chronic disease and a global health concern, which has the fastest growth rate in the 21st century. According to the data reported in 2021, 537 million people were facing Diabetes. This number was anticipated to increase to 643 million in 2030.

In Vietnam, Diabetes is 1 of 3 common reasons leading to the death. It is objected that around 7 million Vietnamese people are having Diabetes, and half of them have not been diagnosed yet. If it is not controlled in time, Diabetes can lead to severe consequences affecting the patients’ living quality, causing related diseases such as myocardial infarction, stroke, kidney failure, amputation, vision loss, peripheral nerve damage, and enhancing the death rate for them. Although there are some developments in treatment methods, most patients are coping with challenges in self-care processes and disease control.
iCARE+ is an application launched in 2023 by Sanofi-Aventis company limited Vietnam (Sanofi Vietnam) and Vietnam Association of Diabetes and Endocrinology (VADE). With user-friendly interface and smart features, iCARE+ has been becoming a trustworthy assistant for diabetes patients, helping them to easily follow health status, comply with treatment regimen and enhance the living quality. The notable features of the app including: Scan prescriptions and schedule medication automatically; Record, store and monitor health indicators; MiMi virtual assistant; Multi-user account management: Patients can share health information with relatives and family, creating connections and supporting each other.

According to Prof., Dr. Tran Huu Dang, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Diabetes and Endocrinology:“Besides the caring of Healthcare professionals, self-management of the diabetes disease from each patient also plays a vital role in controlling disease and preventing the long-term complications.”
Many healthcare professionals also claim that besides solutions like enhancing the knowledge about diabetes through education and sharing on electronic portals, etc. The application of technology can be seen as an optimal solution for diabetes patients and their relatives to self-control the blood sugar index at home.
Mr. Didier Martin, Head of Pharma at Sanofi-Aventis Vietnam, shares: “Based on the understanding of our patients, the iCare+ app is an effective solution that can demand the need of diabetes patients and relatives for active healthcare. The launching of iCARE+ on the App Store marks a milestone in our digitalization that helps iCARE+ enhance its reach to users.
