Hoan My Medical Group hospitals sweep ACHSI Quality Improvement Awards 2023

Two hospitals of the Hoan My Medical Group, the leading private healthcare network in Vietnam, have been recognized for their innovative patient-centric projects at the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards International (ACHSI) Quality Improvement Awards 2023.

The ACHSI Quality Improvement Awards evaluate and recognize outstanding and innovative quality improvement initiatives that have been implemented in healthcare organisations around the world. There are three categories in the Awards, of which two were presented to the Hoan My Medical Group hospitals this year.

Leading with excellence and innovation

The flagship Hoan My Sai Gon Hospital was recognized in the Clinical Excellence and Patient Safety category for its implementation of a comprehensive automation system, Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), which is a powerful tool ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results. Within a year of deploying this system, the hospital has seen impressive results, with the total number of tests administered increased by 20%, delivery time improved by 60%, and close to 95% of what were previously manual steps are now automated. With the streamlined process and optimized operational efficiency, the laboratory team can interpret and analyze results more quickly, helping clinicians make timely decisions and implement treatment plans for patients promptly.

Hoan My Thu Duc Hospital won the Non-Clinical Service Delivery Award for its “Effective Change Management Program on Infectious Waste and Segregation”. The project, launched in 2022, reduced infectious medical waste by 20% per bed per day and cut costs for treating the waste by 58%, while reinforcing safety standards. The project’s success paves the way for similar initiatives to be rolled out across the Hoan My network and in the wider healthcare sector in Vietnam.
