Connecting consumption, honoring Vietnamese goods
On the evening of September 11, the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, in coordination with Tay Ho ward People’s Committee, held the opening ceremony of the 2025 Fruit and Agricultural Products Week.

With 70 booths and nearly 50 enterprises and cooperatives from Hanoi and 15 provinces, the event aims to promote and connect the consumption of seasonal fruits, agricultural products, regional specialties, and OCOP products.
The week also helps enterprises and cooperatives tap into the domestic market, effectively stimulate consumption, increase total retail sales, and respond to the campaign “Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods.”
At the opening, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen The Hiep emphasized that Hanoi has organized delegations to connect trade with provinces such as Can Tho, Dak Lak, Bac Ninh, Dien Bien, and Son La; introduced seasonal and OCOP products from more than 10 provinces into Hanoi’s distribution systems; and set up lychee selling points from Luc Ngan and Thanh Ha at Royal City and Times City Residential Areas.
These activities bring regional specialties and OCOP products to Hanoi, serving the consumption needs of over 11 million residents, while ensuring supply-demand balance and market stability.
According to Deputy Director Nguyen The Hiep, capital consumers increasingly prefer specialties with clear origin, reputable brands, geographical indications, and high quality, and are willing to pay higher prices compared with ordinary products. This is an opportunity for enterprises and cooperatives to build brands, promote products, and expand markets.

Bringing durians from Dak Lak to the Hanoi market, farmer Nguyen Duc Hoan said customers have responded very positively: “If ripe fruit is available, we sell out immediately, because customers hear directly from farmers about the growing and harvesting process, which builds trust and encourages purchase.”

He emphasized that consumers should choose naturally ripened durians without chemicals, as some growers cut fruit too early, resulting in poor quality. His family grows about 2 hectares of durian and 1 hectare of other crops, using organic practices such as biological pest control with weaver ants.
In addition to direct sales, he is experimenting with e-commerce channels to introduce Dak Lak produce, though many older customers still prefer buying face to face.

Also at the event, Dai Duong seaweed (OCOP 4-star, Da Nang) received strong support. Representative Do Thi Y Lai said many families, including those with children, have become repeat customers thanks to its natural taste, safety, and health benefits.
Such supply-demand connection events allow consumers to directly experience products and enable farmers to share the stories of their land and people, thereby building trust and loyalty.
The week takes place from September 11 to 15 at Lac Long Quan Flower Garden, Tay Ho ward. The Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade expects the event to help enterprises and cooperatives expand customer networks, connect with distributors, and maintain stable, continuous supply and consumption in the domestic market.
