End-to-end logistics links to help Vietnamese goods reach global markets

FedEx - Viettel Post partnership in end-to-end logistics is set to cut costs, boost competitiveness and expand Vietnamese goods’ global reach.

According to Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, strengthening end-to-end logistics linkages will expand development space and help Vietnamese goods reach further into global markets.

Logistics is no longer merely a matter of warehousing or transportation. It has become a benchmark of a country’s economic competitiveness. As Vietnam deepens its integration into global supply chains, the challenge is not only to move goods faster, but to build a logistics system that is strong, deep and extensive enough to ensure Vietnamese products can expand sustainably into the world.

Speaking at the event announcing the strategic partnership between Federal Express (FedEx) and Viettel Post Joint Stock Corporation in Vietnam, Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan stressed that enhancing connectivity to form end-to-end supply chains is an urgent requirement to help Vietnamese goods expand their development space in international markets. Logistics, he noted, is a key factor determining the competitiveness of goods, the efficiency of supply chains, and the ability to connect domestic and global markets.

Building a “deep domestic, broad international” logistics chain

Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said that developing modern, synchronized and efficient logistics plays a crucial role in reducing costs, improving service quality and facilitating the flow of goods. This, in turn, helps enhance competitiveness and supports sustainable economic development.

To create breakthroughs in the logistics sector, the Prime Minister has issued the Vietnam Logistics Services Development Strategy for the 2025–2035 period, with a vision toward 2050. The strategy sets out specific goals for modernizing infrastructure, accelerating digital transformation, and promoting green logistics.

“This is a guiding framework for building a national logistics ecosystem with high competitiveness and strong adaptability to global market fluctuations,” the Deputy Minister emphasized.

According to him, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is orienting logistics development not only toward major trade gateways but also toward balanced growth across industries and localities. The ministry prioritizes support for enterprises nationwide, particularly small- and medium-sized enterprises, to help them access global logistics standards.

“Strengthening connectivity to form end-to-end supply chains will help Vietnamese goods go further, while developing regional logistics hubs to effectively link domestic and international markets,” Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan stated.

He said this is a key direction for building a logistics system capable of supporting exports, cross-border e-commerce, and deeper participation of Vietnamese enterprises in global value chains.

FedEx - Viettel Post expands space for Vietnamese goods

In this context, the strategic cooperation between FedEx and Viettel Post is considered an important milestone for Vietnam’s logistics sector. From April 26, 2026, Viettel Post will act as FedEx’s nationwide network operating partner in Vietnam, supporting an enhanced operating model aimed at improving network efficiency, flexibility, and service quality across the country.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan described this as an effective combination of FedEx’s global logistics capabilities and Viettel Post’s domestic execution strengths. “This partnership not only complements capabilities but also creates a strong linkage between international networks and domestic systems, contributing to the formation of a logistics chain that is ‘deep domestically, broad internationally’, enhancing Vietnam’s connectivity with global markets,” he said.

He expressed hope that the cooperation would generate positive changes, improving logistics capacity and promoting trade development in Vietnam. This is not only a partnership between two enterprises, but also a step toward forming integrated collaboration models aimed at more efficient end-to-end supply chains.

“This cooperation will expand development space for Vietnamese goods and enterprises in global markets, enhance Vietnam’s position in international supply chains, and drive the standardization, modernization and quality improvement of the national logistics system,” he emphasized.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade, he added, will continue to accompany and create the most favorable institutional and policy conditions for logistics enterprises. “We will always listen, remove difficulties, and promote the standardization and modernization of the national logistics system, thereby improving the competitiveness of the economy,” he affirmed.

At the event, representatives of FedEx and Viettel Post conducted the ceremony to officially establish their strategic partnership in Vietnam.

Masamichi Ujiie, President of FedEx for North and South Pacific, emphasized that Vietnam is a strategic market and one of FedEx’s fastest-growing markets.

“Vietnam is one of the most dynamic economies in Asia, with growing influence in manufacturing, exports, e-commerce, and cross-border trade. Alongside expansion, Vietnamese enterprises increasingly require logistics solutions that are not only fast, but also resilient, flexible, transparent and globally connected,” he said.

According to him, Viettel Post becoming FedEx’s nationwide network operating partner marks an important step forward in how the company serves the Vietnamese market.

“By combining Viettel Post’s nationwide coverage, local market expertise and strong infrastructure with FedEx’s global network, we are creating a more seamless end-to-end logistics experience for customers across Vietnam,” he said.

He added that customers will benefit from faster delivery times, extended cut-off hours, broader service coverage, higher reliability, and improved tracking and shipment transparency.

Phung Van Cuong, CEO of Viettel Post, said the partnership marks an important milestone not only for the two companies but also for Vietnam’s logistics sector integration into global supply chains.

Each year, the cooperation is expected to handle nearly 2 million shipments with a total volume exceeding 26,000 tons, connecting goods from Vietnam to more than 220 countries and territories worldwide.

“This is not only a corporate partnership but a cross-border logistics capability at real scale and international standards, opening more opportunities for Vietnamese businesses to bring goods to the world faster, more reliably and more efficiently,” he said.

He added that Viettel Post is committed to continued investment in infrastructure, technology, operations and human resources, and to working closely with FedEx to effectively implement cooperation contents, continuously improving service quality and expanding cross-border logistics capacity, thereby contributing to trade, investment and economic connectivity between Vietnam, the United States and other regions worldwide.
