Compliance with environmental regulations

In addition to production and business activities, Duyen Hai Thermal Power Company always well implements environmental protection work, especially controlling sources of waste that cause environmental pollution, preventing environmental incidents, and responding to climate change.

Accordingly, since early 2024, the company has adopted solutions to prevent dust emissions from power plants of the company (according to Plan No.434/KH-NDDH dated January 29, 2024) to avoid affecting local people’s lives.

Deputy Director of Duyen Hai Thermal Power Company Au Nguyen Dinh Thao said that Duyen Hai thermal power plants use separate ash and slag collection and transportation systems. The ash, after being collected, is discharged into a closed container truck/tank truck of receiving units and then is used as a construction material or transported to other ash and slag storage areas. Meanwhile, the bottom slag is discharged into specialized vehicles of the receiving units, also to be used as a construction material or transported to other slag yards.

In particular, to transport fly ash from Duyen Hai 1 Thermal Power Plant to seaports for ash export, the company has acquired a closed pipe system leading to the silos in the port areas, supplying fly ash to partners who receive it by ships or barges with closed compartments. This helps control dust and prevent dust from dispersing into the environment.

In addition, the operations of wastewater, dust and gas treatment facilities of the company’s power plants have always been guaranteed. The quality of wastewater, dust and gas outputs meets the standards QCVN 40:2011/BTNMT, QCVN 22:2009/BTNMT and QCVN 19:2009/BTNMT.

In September 2024, the company completed upgrading the automatic environmental monitoring system of the expanded Duyen Hai 3 Thermal Power Plant, at the same time, continuing to upgrade similar systems for Duyen Hai 1 and Duyen Hai 3 thermal power plants.

The company also maintains the management and control of ordinary industrial solid waste and hazardous waste in accordance with regulations.

Creating green landscape

In addition, every year the company grows more trees to strengthen the ecosystem in the area, contributing to creating a green landscape. In 2024, the company coordinated with the People’s Committee of Dan Thanh Commune to plant more than 900 trees of various types in the operation-management area of the expanded Duyen Hai 3 Thermal Power Plant and along the roads in front of the company.

Au Nguyen Dinh Thao added that the company also organizes the “green - clean - beautiful - safe” contest at the workplace. Trade Union chapters of units in the company launched sanitation, tree planting movements, maintaining the model of each unit having a flower garden and disseminated information and called for active participation of each group, shift, and individual in order to raise the sense of responsibility of each official, worker, and employee in the units for building and maintaining a green - clean - beautiful environment, ensuring occupational safety and health.
