Deputy Minister Ho An Phong: Golden Autumn Fair 2025 links culture and commerce

For the first time, Vietnam’s cultural industries are being showcased comprehensively at a national-level trade promotion event, the Vietnam Golden Autumn Fair 2025.

With the coordination between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) and the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), the fair has become a vital link between culture and the economy, contributing to brand promotion, stimulating consumption, attracting investment, and spreading Vietnam’s image globally.

In an interview with the Industry and Trade Newspaper, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong shared insights on the role of culture in this year’s fair.

The essence of Vietnam’s cultural industries converges at the Vietnam Golden Autumn Fair 2025

The Vietnam Golden Autumn Fair 2025 is considered not only a major trade event but also a distinctive cultural activity at year’s end. What responsibilities has the Government assigned to the MoCST to ensure the success of this event?

Deputy Minister Ho An Phong: The Vietnam Golden Autumn Fair 2025 is a very special event, the first of its kind in Vietnam held on a national scale under the direct direction of the Government.

As part of our assigned functions and responsibilities, the MoCST has been entrusted with several key tasks. Notably, the ministry will organize a dedicated space for Vietnam’s cultural industries, presenting the quintessence of Vietnamese culture to both domestic and international audiences and enterprises. This will also be a unique trading and networking hub within the fair.

We are also responsible for communication and promotion, as well as organizing the opening and closing ceremonies and a series of cultural and artistic performances throughout the event. Our goal is to turn the fair into a true festival for the public and the business community, a platform that connects people, products, and markets, thereby fostering consumption, economic growth, and investment attraction.

The participation of cultural industries at the fair carries significant meaning. First, it is a major opportunity to accelerate the growth of Vietnam’s cultural sectors, which currently contribute about 4.4% to the national GDP, according to the General Statistics Office. We aim to raise that contribution to 7% by 2030, with a vision toward 2045, an ambitious but achievable goal given the great potential of the sector. The fair will serve as a catalyst to stimulate creativity, new ideas, and particularly investment in Vietnam’s cultural industry market.

Second, the fair offers a lively platform to connect culture with trade, linking production, distribution, and consumption, where visitors can not only shop but also experience culture and art. The participation of cultural industries will help drive domestic consumption and promote Vietnamese cultural values both at home and abroad.

Highlighting cultural industry products

What types of cultural industry products will be introduced at this year’s fair?

Deputy Minister Ho An Phong: The cultural industry zone will span more than 10,000 square meters, a large and diverse space featuring products from 12 cultural industries, including cinema, performing arts, publishing, fashion (particularly ao dai), fine arts, tourism, advertising, broadcasting, gaming, and more.

Here, visitors will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of creative products, both tangible goods and cultural services, reflecting the rich diversity of Vietnam’s culture. This marks the first time that Vietnam’s cultural industries are presented comprehensively and synchronously at a national trade promotion event, enriching the fair’s scope and depth.

Promoting trade, culture and community values

The 2025 fair is said to be a unique combination of trade, culture, and tourism promotion. How will the MoCST coordinate with the MoIT to enhance public awareness and engagement?

Deputy Minister Ho An Phong: We have assigned the Department of Press, the Department of Broadcasting and Electronic Information, the Department of Grassroots Information, and the Department of External Information to carry out targeted communication activities for the fair.

A media center will also be established at the event site to provide daily updates for domestic and international journalists. It is expected to begin operation before the fair opens, ensuring timely and accurate information dissemination nationwide.

At the same time, we will leverage social media and digital platforms to enhance outreach. Influencers and content creators will be engaged to help spread information quickly and widely, bringing the image of the fair closer to the public, consumers, and enterprises.

A series of daily performances, including ao dai shows, contemporary and traditional art, will also be held to turn the event into a true festival where people can both shop and enjoy culture and art, creating widespread positive resonance.

Importantly, this year’s fair will include a meaningful initiative, a fundraising campaign to support communities affected by floods. This reflects the humanistic spirit of the Vietnamese people and ensures that the fair is not only a place for trade but also for compassion and social connection.

Strengthening digital communication and media engagement

In the digital era, how will the MoCST apply online platforms and social media to expand coverage and interaction for the fair?

Deputy Minister Ho An Phong: Digital communication is now essential for fast, effective information delivery. We will enhance both mainstream and digital outreach, creating online forums for consumers to share feedback, vote for product quality, and report issues in real time. This two-way interaction model will bring the event closer to the public and make communication more dynamic and transparent.

We also highly appreciate the role of the press. Since the announcement of the fair, media outlets across the country have been actively involved. At the press conference on October 14, more than 200 journalists attended. Vietnam Television will broadcast the opening ceremony live, while the Voice of Vietnam will provide live radio coverage. Reporters from many outlets are closely following the event to deliver accurate and timely news.

The press not only reports but also contributes to brand promotion and trade connection. In particular, Industry and Trade Newspaper, the media agency of the MoIT, has worked with professionalism and creativity, making an important contribution to the success of communication for this event.

In addition to trade activities, the fair features art performances, film screenings, community fundraisers, and online interactions. Media coverage is strengthened across mainstream press and digital platforms, with participation from over 200 media agencies, helping to widely promote the fair and showcase Vietnam’s cultural values to the world.
