1,400 ha Phu My port planned in Binh Dinh

Accordingly, Phu My port area will serve as a functional area, including transport infrastructure and seaports closely linked with Phu My concentrated, multi-sector industrial park (IP), helping to increase investment attraction in suitable types of industries for the IP.

Binh Dinh Province has a coastline of 134 kilometers

Binh Dinh Province proposed that the Ministry of Transport update the planning scale of Phu My port area (in My An and My Tho communes, Phu My District) to submit to the Prime Minister for approval of the detailed planning of seaports, ports, wharves, and water areas for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 according to regulations.

The province also proposed to direct the Vietnam Maritime Administration to update the planning development of Phu My port area and submit to the Ministry of Transport for approval of the detailed planning of Binh Dinh province’s land, water, and seaports for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 according to regulations.

By 2030, Phu My port is expected to have two specialized terminals for new energy like green hydrogen and green ammonium products. There is also one terminal for receiving petroleum products such as gasoline, diesel, liquefied natural gas (LNG), jet fuel, and refined oil products, receiving ships with a capacity of 100,000 tonnes.

Additionally, there is one general cargo terminal capable of handling ships with a capacity ranging between 70,000 to 100,000 tonnes, and five terminals for loading and unloading various types of goods, receiving ships with a capacity of 30,000 - 100,000 tonnes.

Upon its completion, the project is estimated to handle 2.6 million tonnes of cargo annually up to 2030; and about 1.6 million tonnes in the 2030-2050 period.

Previously, the leader of Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee also assigned the provincial Department of Transport to coordinate with relevant departments and sectors to promptly submit to relevant authorities for approval the detailed planning of the province’s seaports, ports, wharves, and water areas, including contents related to the planning of Phu My port area.
