Welcoming Ambassador Marc Knapper, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man congratulated him on a successful term of office in Vietnam, while highly appreciating the Ambassador’s active and effective contributions to promoting Vietnam-US relations in a strong, substantive and comprehensive manner. These efforts were highlighted by the two countries’ upgrade of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2023.
Acknowledging the Ambassador’s efforts to deepen cooperation between the two legislatures, the National Assembly Chairman expressed his pleasure at the positive and substantive progress in parliamentary relations in recent years, reflected in regular high-level exchanges, contacts at various levels, and the effective maintenance of parliamentary dialogue mechanisms.
Alongside this, the two sides have continued to share experience in legislation, oversight and decision-making on major national issues, while strengthening cooperation in economic and trade ties, education and training, science and technology, and people-to-people exchanges.
The National Assembly Chairman agreed with Ambassador Marc Knapper’s proposals to further enhance exchanges among National Assembly leaders, specialized committees and legislators of the two countries, and to promote cooperation in priority areas such as digital transformation, innovation, science and technology, clean energy, climate change response, education and training, and healthcare.
He affirmed that the National Assembly of Vietnam stands ready to closely coordinate with the US Congress to improve a favorable legal framework for bilateral cooperation, thereby creating conditions for cooperation mechanisms between the two countries to be implemented effectively and sustainably.
For his part, Ambassador Marc Knapper said it was an honor to serve in Vietnam during a period of strong development in bilateral relations, especially marked by the upgrade to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
He highly valued the notable achievements in cooperation between the two legislatures and expressed confidence that, with the support and contributions of both legislative bodies, Vietnam-US cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, energy, science and technology, education and training, and people-to-people exchanges as well as parliamentary relations would continue to expand in both depth and scope.
Ambassador Marc Knapper affirmed that, in whatever future position he may hold, he would continue to make active contributions to further deepening relations between the two countries.
