Vietnam, Russia discuss energy and logistics cooperation

Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long and Russia's Deputy Energy Minister held virtual talks on advancing cooperation in energy and logistics projects.

On July 20, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long held a virtual meeting with Roman Anatolyevich Marshavin, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation.

The Russian side was represented by officials from relevant government agencies and enterprises, including Vladimir Yurievich Khazov, Director of the Department of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation; Aleksandr Igorievich Mikhalov, General Director of Zarubezhneft EP Vietnam; and representatives of other relevant organizations. The meeting focused on discussions of cooperation projects in the energy and logistics sectors.

Representing Vietnam were officials from the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Department of Oil, Gas and Coal; Legal Department; Department of Planning, Finance and Enterprise Management; Agency for Foreign Market Development; as well as representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa Province, Vietnam National Industry - Energy Group (Petrovietnam), and other relevant stakeholders.

In his remarks, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long highlighted the strong potential for expanding energy cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation by building on each country's respective strengths and potential, in line with their development priorities and shared interests.

They also agreed to continue reporting to and consulting the competent authorities of both countries on the orientation and approval of potential cooperation projects in Vietnam, while ensuring full compliance with the laws and regulations of each country and with relevant international commitments.

In addition, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close coordination between government agencies and enterprises to facilitate the implementation of specific cooperation projects. They underscored the importance of effectively leveraging the complementary strengths of Vietnam and the Russian Federation in the energy and logistics sectors to enhance the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation, contribute to energy security, diversify supply chains, and advance sustainable development for the mutual benefit of both countries.
