From June 3 to June 6, 2026, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long accompanied Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc, who headed the Vietnamese Government delegation, to attend the 29th Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in Saint Petersburg, the Russian Federation.
SPIEF is one of the world's most prestigious and influential economic and business forums, held annually since 1997. Since 2006, the forum has been organized under the patronage and with the direct participation of the President of the Russian Federation.

As part of the forum, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc attended and delivered an important address at the opening session, reaffirming Vietnam’s commitment to international cooperation, deep economic integration and sustainable development.
On June 4, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc held talks with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak. Both sides reaffirmed that energy cooperation has consistently been one of the key and enduring pillars of the Vietnam - Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. They agreed to encourage enterprises from both countries to actively exchange views, study and implement specific cooperation projects in gas-fired power, wind power and other promising energy sectors, ensuring a balance of interests and alignment with each country’s development priorities.

Also within the framework of SPIEF 2026, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc met with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko on June 5. The two sides affirmed that Vietnam - Russia relations have consistently received close attention and guidance from the senior leaders of both countries. They also agreed to continue maintaining and enhancing the effectiveness of the Vietnam - Russia Intergovernmental Committee on Economic, Trade and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, viewing it as an important dialogue mechanism for advancing bilateral cooperation across various fields.
In addition to high-level engagements, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long accompanied Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc in meetings with several leading Russian companies and conglomerates, including Novatek and AFK Sistema. Discussions focused on cooperation potential in liquefied natural gas (LNG), multi-sector collaboration and other strategic areas of the economy.
The participation of the Vietnamese Government delegation at SPIEF 2026 once again underscores Vietnam’s determination to strengthen international economic cooperation while contributing to the consolidation and expansion of the Vietnam - Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership across a wide range of sectors, particularly energy, trade and investment.
