On September 18 in Kuala Lumpur, during his official visit to Malaysia, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Prime Minister Anwar warmly welcomed Chairman Tran Thanh Man, his spouse, and the high-level Vietnamese delegation, expressing confidence that the visit would inject new momentum into bilateral ties, especially legislative cooperation. He conveyed his respect for President Ho Chi Minh and admiration for the Vietnamese people’s struggle, particularly the Dien Bien Phu victory, affirming that Malaysia regards Vietnam as a key partner. He also extended greetings to Party General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Chairman Tran Thanh Man thanked Malaysia for the warm reception and conveyed greetings from Vietnamese leaders. He also expressed sympathy for Malaysians affected by floods and landslides in Sabah.
The two leaders noted with satisfaction the positive progress in bilateral ties, especially after upgrading to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Bilateral trade in the first seven months of 2025 reached $9.23 billion, up 8% year-on-year. Cooperation between PetroVietnam and Malaysia’s Petronas was highlighted as a symbol of effective partnership.

Expand cooperation in energy, oil and gas, science and technology, digital transformation, innovation, AI, fisheries, the Halal industry, and ASEAN Power Grid projects. Chairman Tran Thanh Man stressed the importance of early adoption of the Vietnam-Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Action Plan (2025-2030) and accelerating green energy projects, including trilateral renewable electricity exports from Vietnam to Malaysia and Singapore.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim thanked Vietnam for supporting Malaysia as ASEAN Chair 2025 and AIPA-46 host, praising the strong legislative cooperation between the two countries. Chairman Tran Thanh Man congratulated Malaysia on its ASEAN Chairmanship and the successful hosting of AIPA-46, affirming Vietnam’s commitment to working closely with Malaysia and other parliaments to strengthen ASEAN’s unity, enhance people-to-people exchanges, and advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
