On the afternoon of May 19, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Deputy Minister Phan Thi Thang received Nicolai Prytz, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to Vietnam, on the occasion of the Ambassador concluding his term of office in Vietnam.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Phan Thi Thang highly appreciated Ambassador Nicolai Prytz’s positive contributions to promoting Vietnam - Denmark cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, energy, green transition, sustainable development, and energy efficiency. In the field of trade, economic cooperation between the two countries has continued to record positive results. In the first three months of 2026, total bilateral trade turnover reached approximately USD 238.3 million, up 47.4% year-on-year; of which Vietnam’s exports to Denmark were estimated at USD 126.5 million, an increase of nearly 20%.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that 2026 marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Denmark. Building on the strong foundation of friendship and the Green Strategic Partnership established in 2023, cooperation between the two countries has become increasingly substantive and in-depth, especially in the fields of green growth, energy transition, and sustainable development. The Deputy Minister also acknowledged the Ambassador’s role in promoting the implementation of Phase III of the Vietnam - Denmark Energy Partnership Programme, which has supported Vietnam in energy planning, renewable energy integration, offshore wind power development, energy efficiency enhancement, and the achievement of net-zero emissions by 2050.

Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Nicolai Prytz expressed his honour to meet Deputy Minister Phan Thi Thang during the final stage of his tenure in Vietnam. The Ambassador praised Vietnam’s impressive development in recent years, as well as the increasingly deep and substantive growth of bilateral relations between Vietnam and Denmark.
The Ambassador highlighted key milestones during his tenure, including the Danish Royal Family’s State visit to Vietnam in 2022 and the establishment of the Green Strategic Partnership in 2023. These developments, he noted, have laid an important foundation for bilateral cooperation in green growth, energy transition, and sustainable development.

Ambassador Prytz stated that Danish enterprises continue to regard Vietnam as a key market and remain committed to long-term engagement through investment, technology, and expertise, particularly in the fields of energy, green infrastructure, logistics, sustainable manufacturing, and innovation. Regarding energy cooperation, the Ambassador affirmed that this would continue to serve as a key pillar of bilateral relations. Denmark stands ready to continue supporting Vietnam in renewable energy, power system planning, energy efficiency, and a just energy transition.
Concluding the meeting, Deputy Minister Phan Thi Thang congratulated Ambassador Nicolai Prytz on successfully completing his tenure in Vietnam and expressed confidence that he would continue serving as an important bridge in promoting friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Denmark in the future. Ambassador Nicolai Prytz affirmed that although his tenure in Vietnam is coming to an end, he will continue to hold special affection for Vietnam and support Vietnam - Denmark relations in his new position.
