On September 29, at the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) headquarters, Deputy Minister Truong Thanh Hoai met with Lina Gandløse Hansen, Ambassador of Denmark to Viet Nam, to discuss bilateral economic, trade, industrial and energy cooperation, address several proposals raised by Danish businesses, and exchange views on orientations for further deepening Viet Nam - Denmark cooperation in the coming period.  

The Deputy Minister congratulated Ambassador Lina Gandløse Hansen on her appointment as Denmark’s Ambassador to Viet Nam and expressed his confidence that, with her experience, the Ambassador would make positive contributions to further advancing relations between the two countries, particularly in the areas of economy, trade, industry, energy and the green transition.

Deputy Minister Truong Thanh Hoai highlighted that 2026 marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Denmark. Viet Nam attaches great importance to its long-standing friendship and cooperation with Denmark, with the Green Strategic Partnership serving as an important framework for the two countries to further expand cooperation in the green transition, energy, trade, investment and sustainable development.

Deputy Minister Truong Thanh Hoai also shared several outcomes from the recent working visit by a MoIT delegation to Denmark and Germany. During its visit to Denmark, the delegation held direct discussions with several major Danish companies, including Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and Vestas, focusing on offshore wind power, technology, industrial development and supply chains.

The visit provided the MoIT with practical insights into the experience and strengths of Danish companies, as well as the conditions needed to promote renewable energy projects in Viet Nam.

Regarding offshore wind power and renewable energy projects, the Deputy Minister said that Viet Nam is continuing to refine its legal framework, policy mechanisms and necessary conditions for the development of the sector in an effective and sustainable manner and in accordance with Vietnamese law.

The MoIT welcomes Danish businesses’ continued efforts to explore investment opportunities and expand cooperation in Viet Nam, while encouraging them to strengthen technology transfer, workforce training and the development of domestic supply chains.

For her part, Ambassador Lina Gandløse Hansen spoke highly of the potential of the Vietnamese market and said Danish businesses wish to further expand their investment and long-term business operations in Viet Nam.

The Ambassador also shared several difficulties, challenges and recommendations raised by Danish businesses operating in Viet Nam, including CIP, Vestas and Carlsberg, relating to project implementation, mechanisms and policies, as well as development orientations in the period ahead. She expressed her hope that the MoIT would continue to give attention to these issues and coordinate with relevant agencies to support businesses in carrying out their investment and business activities in Viet Nam.

Deputy Minister Truong Thanh Hoai acknowledged the views and recommendations put forward by the Danish side and affirmed that the MoIT supports Danish businesses in continuing to invest, expand their operations and develop long-term projects in Viet Nam, particularly in areas aligned with the country’s priorities for the green transition, energy transition and industrial development.

Regarding specific proposals from CIP, Vestas, Carlsberg and other Danish businesses, the MoIT will continue to consult and coordinate with relevant agencies to consider and facilitate their resolution within its functions and authority, while ensuring full compliance with Vietnamese law.

The Deputy Minister also encouraged Danish businesses to link their investment activities with technology transfer, workforce training, the development of domestic suppliers and greater use of products, components and services provided by Vietnamese enterprises. This, he said, would help strengthen the participation of Vietnamese businesses in the supply chains of Danish corporations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Deputy Minister Truong Thanh Hoai once again wished Ambassador Lina Gandløse Hansen a successful tenure in Viet Nam and affirmed that the MoIT stands ready to work closely with the Embassy of Denmark to deepen Viet Nam - Denmark cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, industry and energy, making it increasingly substantive, effective and results-oriented, while delivering practical benefits to the business communities and people of both countries.
